Differential leaking oil (car started smoking like crazy

My differential outside case was leaking oil onto the exhaust and it was bad! Checking it out tomorrow. It happened twice so far under throttle/ while at 4K rpm playing around with burble tune. Something was wrong with the tranny or torque converter since I got the car. Now it’s time to fix it I guess

Sorry I am a bit confused. Differential as in the back of the car correct? Or the torque converter or transmission at the front?
The differential housing itself only has a few places to leak.
Pilot bush replaced at the transmission? Check pan gasket, rear main seal area and I presume there has to be a seal at the rear end of the transmission somewhere.

It’s on once I run the car hard. I’m guessing it’s getting pressurized? It’s the thing differential right

Years ago I made the mistake of getting a transmission pan gasket at napa. Two days later it blew tranny fluid on everything downstream. I thought I trashed my motor, it smoked so bad when i ran it hard. The tranny was acting up too, being low on fluid. Hope it's that simple.

It’s the differential from on top of the cooler splines.

turned out to be the right rear axel rubber seal. It popped out and all the grease started leaking, I saw the differential was leaking but the greases like melted and dripped from it.

How much did that cost you to repair, if you don't mind me asking?
