w211 E55 engine swap!

Hi,
i swap my e55 2004 engine to an e500 for financial reasons after my engine broke. I will however remove the 300hp engine in the near future. So my question is about making my mind on the best engine I can put in taking in consideration its faculty to be bossted over the 700hp with no nitrous or exotic stuff.
Never heared of realible modified e55 with such a power, not more 650hp. Is an e63 viable? How much hp could you go with for a daily drive.
last question: can an s65 or e63 twin turbo be swaped in my w211?

regards

The V12 from a S65 is too dam big to fit in a W211, hell the M156 barely fits. The M157 engine should fit, but may require some modifications to your car to fit properly.
It would be easier to just find a used M113K engine, to replace your broken one.

Can't afford to put back in an M113K but you want to make 700hp...

Making 700 ponies reliably, will not be a cheap undertaking. Even adding a 300 shot of nitrous, you risk breaking things.
So regardless your spending money no matter what to reach 700 ponies.

If your cylinder bores are more or less salvageable, the M113k is "reasonably" cheap to fix. Bore it out to 97.5 or 98mm and buy a set of custom made JE pistons. I'm in the same boat and I'm looking at 3500€ ATM to get a reconditioned block (98mm bores) and new forged pistons with rings. Add 800€ for bolts and 1000€ for gaskets and bearings. There is no way your gonna do a swap for less. And now you have a block which is capable of at least 700hp and an original car. An E55 with a 5.0 engine is worthless.

If your block is completely messed up buy this block and do as above.

I've spend the last 2 months looking at a reasonable solution to fix mine and this is my best option. I can do it cheaper but it would be crap.

I can feel your pain

There was an S600 v12 in an E55 on this forum for years. Not a low budget build. I am kind of impressed he made the E500 motor work though.

Thanks for posting this, dam a twin turbo V12, this engine is very capable of putting out 700 ponies with the right setup and tune.

i just got done with my swap from a m113k motor to a e500 engine, i swapped the cams and it feels like a monster, 10.5:1 compression and 10 psi of boost and e55 cams, may just switch it to e85 and leave it as is

yes put a e500 motor in place of the e55, i swaped the cams and cut the air pump horn off the timing cover so the supercharger wouldn't hit obviously, and she started up and idles perfect and pull like a frieght train.
the car had a rod knock when i purchased it and looked for a cheap alternative for a replacement while i could rebuild the m113k, but if the motor stays together and makes the same power or more due to the higher compression i may just leave it as is

ill post a video and pics tomorrow, i never got to drive the car at full power when i purchased it due to the rod knock, so what feels fast to me might be slower than stock, but it pulls hard and doesn't ping, so the loss of displacement might be made up by the higher compression

so you put an e55 supercharger & cams on an e500 engine.

Superchargers actually do pretty well on a high compression motor. With the high compression you can actually run less boost and make tons of power. Alot of japanese cars with high compression do this with no issues.

Yea, I figure cause it’s a supercharger tune in the computer it should be ok as long as the intake air temps are fine and it has enough fuel, it’s not like it’s a NA tune with a supercharger on it. Will see how it holds together and see how much it is to get it on the dyno. It’s all stock other than the higher compression and .5l less of displacement

Well I don't know about the other folks but you've got me pitching a tent. Make a thread with more info and vids, that's freaking sweet.

It can be done, very easily I might add, you can build a bulletproof bottom end out of your m113k motor and still drive your car around

this is my long term plan with my wagon. it has a rebuilt title from a small accident with the PO, so it's collector value is gone. at 150k now with no issues, but I take good care of it. At some point I'm going to go nuts with it: rebuilt bottom end to handle a weistec blower or something, go hellcat killing or something
