Front suspension colapsed

I walked out of my house this morning only to find the front suspension was bottomed out. It only rubs when making turns, so I made wide turns on my way to my reliable auto repair shop 1.5 miles away. Will wait to hear what they say is wrong. And I looked up several threads on the air suspensions issues and hoping it isn't too serious and may go with a normal suspension depending on what they say. Fingers crossed. I've only owned this car less than a month and already replaced the SBC with a new one. UGH!

This is a real car! If you buy one that hasn't been maintained it will cost you plenty... It's still well worth it.
Search the forum, check your options. There are quite a few for the shock situation. A squirt bottle of soapy water is a great diagnostic tool before you take it somewhere.

If you need new shocks (chances are) look at Arnott with lifetime warranty. I like the airmatic but it can be expensive.

I bought a new front strut from rockauto.com for $400 and fixed it myself in 3 hours being careful

I think it's a grand total of 5 bolts once you get the fender lining off. it's really the easiest shock or strut replacement I've ever seen.

Thanks guys. I know of Arnott, and it is one of my options. Waiting to see what my mechanic says tomorrow.

I did the coilover conversion. Total cost $1800 include installation and alignment. No need to worry ever again about air suspension !

Which kit did you wind up going with? And did it remove the error lights on the dash? Thanks.

Anyone try the Suncore Reman Air Struts? They are only $379.99 at Advanced Auto.

After pulling a full service history on my car I did see that the previous owner did a full set of shocks/bags 1 time. I recently did my fronts with Arnott's and had maybe 125k on the clock at the time. Good thing we have companies out there like Arnott and FCP Euro for their lifetime warranty on parts!

Excellent! I have 89k miles on her and fixing as much as I can to get her near 100%. Well worth it indeed.

I did BC coil-over. You can search it in the forum. Many of us did the conversion.
