That's half right lol. Except you are supposed to flush in like 10 second intervals and add oil between each flush and flush through like 9 quarts or something. Definitely not run it dry though haha. There are pretty thorough guides on this forum.

Honestly, that is me in the video and that procedure is completely harmless to the transmission. It is way better than flushing the system on these transmissions.

I may do it. I believe the dealer drains the pan and replaces the filter and that's about it although I may be wrong. I have also seen the electrical connector replaced and even an electrical circuit board?

Yeah, the conductor plate and connector seal go bad on these transmissions. There are some kits on Ebay and other vendors that contain all the parts you'll need to do them both. Don't forget the red tab that locks the transmission dipstick tube and the dip stick tool since these transmissions don't come with one.

This can't be good for the life of the tranny. Even though the tranny is not in gear, things are still rotating inside it.

Only downside is you can't get to the filter this way. Mine was super gross, and definitely needed some attention.

Once again some incorrect information flying around.

Here is the original thread of this procedure

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ion-flush.html

Here is my thread on the same procedure.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...uid-flush.html

You do change out the filter when you do this procedure. This does not harm the transmission. To each his own though.

I think the reason people are taken aback by your video/procedure is it appears you let the car run until it begins to run out of fluid. In the original procedure it states to only run the car for 5-10 seconds.

There are i believe around 10 quarts in the transmission 3 quarts came out each time the fluid went out the cooler line. I guess people were thinking I ran all 10 quarts out at the same time? You are supposed to do it multiple times as I did in the thread i posted.

I also assume the line to drain the transmission fluid is the line that doesn't have the 90 degree bend at the end? If the transmission is working fine is there a need to change the conductor plate? Most it seems use Mercedes OEM fluid, I wonder if Royal purple or another brand would be better. Lastly, the plug is preventative maintenance I would guess.

I am going to be doing mine later this month when I get some time. Thanks for the video, the links and the pictures.

The conductor plate and plug are done only if there is something wrong with the transmission IE your shifting is not smooth or your transmission pops out of gear. I would not do it unless there was a sign of something wrong. I would stick with mercedes OEM transmission fluid. It is the line closest to the drivers side. You can see it in the video better.

We use a machine thats never an issue. I wouldn't have a problem doing it this route on my personal vehicle.

I believe it's all ATF 134. I would use whatever fluids are MB approved.

https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...236.14_en.html

Royal purple isn't on the list. Their fluid might meet spec, but if it's not on the list, it means they were too cheap to pay for certification so that it would be on the list.

OEM MB fluid is in the $20 a quart range. You can get Shell ATF 134 from a local distributor for around $60 for a case of 12 quarts. Shell just lists headquarters for their distributors, the individual distributors may have other locations closer to you.
