Getting my car valued ?

Sorry all. May sound like a stupid question.

Thinking of selling my 2008 E63 , is the best place to get a value on Edmonds or KBB ?

Thanks for any advice.

Good luck. The 63 seems to be a car that is hard to sell. Especially if the cam, lifters, adjusters, and head bolts have not been addressed. I was going to sell my car, but was having trouble getting anything for it so I decided to keep it and do ARP studs over the winter. I have seen performance package cars in my area with under 100K selling for $14k.

I paid 22k for my E63 last year. It already had the headbolts done and had 89k. The head bolts being done really help imho. The cams / lifters to me weren't that big of an issue as that issue is very rare.

Mine is going up for sale soon. It's up to date on all maintenance and there is nothing wrong with the car (except for front bumper cosmetics that are mainly noticeable when it's on a lift). I have the updated head bolts sitting in my garage. Myself and my mechanic are on the fence about doing them before I put it up for sale. I'm in the camp that says the issue is blown way out of proportion (as is he), but I know these cars are hard to sell to begin with so doing them will only help. Especially considering it'll cost me well under $1k to have them done. Just finished getting all the fluids changed on it today so it's good to go for quite a while.

I'm selling the car so I can buy a VW Bug and throw some money at some house projects. I really want a Bug with a turbo Subaru swap.

Interesting choice. I had a 62 ragtop for my first car. I built it from the ground up and used a bunch of 914 pars in the suspension. The only car I've ever had that would out corner and out stop this CLS. Not enough protection though, I no longer hold the belief that I'm indestructible.

Options and mileage is key. I bought my 2008 E63 a year ago for $27k. It had 46,000 miles, P1, P2, P030 package and the head bolts done. Exterior was a 9.5/10, interior was a 9.5/10

The range on the W211 E63 is WIDE. Within the past couple months I've seen $10k-$40k. Obviously the $10k was beat to $h1t with high miles and the $40k was sub 20,000 miles and pristine.

I would search auto trader and the like to find vehicles that are similar to yours in options, mileage, and condition. The market will be far more accurate than KBB, Edmunds, etc...

Yeah, I'm just ready for something different. I had a Bug many years ago and it was a fun little car. It's rare that I keep a car for more than a couple of years anyways.

Cam and lifter issues are not at all rare. I have only seen one or two broken head bolt cars locally but have seen around 7 cars with lifter noise.

If you pull your valve cover and closely inspect the cams I would make a bet you will see wear. I did a car two weeks ago that had head bolts done but the shop didnt replace cams or lifters and gave the client back a noisey car.

it had 100k miles and blatently obvious wear on all of the camshafts and the previous shop did not install the adjusters correctly either.
