New E63 owner
A stop along the way - almost home.
Hey guys,
A couple weeks ago I once again became an AMG owner. I searched for a while and found a black 2008 E63 AMG with the performance package. It had 107K kms when I picked it up in Calgary from the second owner. Car is in good shape, runs strong and is quite different from the 2006 E55 that I had and sold last year.
I flew to Calgary, did the PPI, final negotiations and then started heading back to Toronto. They were calling for some snow so I wanted to leave before that came as the car had summer tires. It was another great adventure. Got to check out Calgary for a bit and then the drive, although on the long side it was a nice drive. Stopped at Tire Rack in South Bend and put on four new Firestone Firehawk 500s. It was interesting to see their warehouse and track.
Now that I have had the car for a few weeks I am getting used to the car. It is very different from my 2012 Audi S4 6MT with dual pulleys and supporting mods. The E63 is fast but in a subtle way. The S4 with the dual pulley literally fells like a rocket ready for take off. The power starts @ 2k RPM and does not stop until read line. No wheel spin just supercharger whine and thrust. The power in the E63 start hard around 4K and pulls hard. It has that V8 sound that I wanted and missed when I sold the E55. The E is quieter on the road than the S4 and not as good in the turns as the S4 that has Bilstein coilovers.
Once again nice to have an AMG in the garage.
Rob.

But it does pull like a freight train.
E 63 AMG Saloon and Estate
* 18-inch five-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels, multipiece
* AMG performance suspension, based on AIRMATIC DC (only for saloon)
* AMG rear locking differential
* Velour floor mats with AMG lettering
Is there a way to know these came stock with the car and not just added by previous owner?

The only true way to well, is to have someone run your VIN. As that will indicate what components your vehicle has.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I am getting used to her and liking the ride and drive. Much smoother and quieter than my modified S4.The P30 package is made up of all the parts listed above. I have carbon fiber inside instead of the wood trim, my steering wheel has some alcantara on it. The wheels are different and are two pieces. The car has a limited slip diff that I tested before I got my new tires. It was a rare car and that is why I bought it even though the previous owner did not take the best care of the car cosmetically. Mechanically he took care of it and spent about $2600 at the dealer back in June. I have a few things that I want to fix up and restore so the car is back to a point how I like it.
