Odometer fraud found
Hi Guys!
So I’m a former w211 E55 owner. I’ve since switched to a W212 2012 E63 with the twin turbo which I’m not entirely happy with compared to the E55. But that’s a story for a different day.
Todays story is regarding my old E55 which I’ve recently found on a local sales website “Kijiji” here in Ontario Canada.
I have found my old beloved E55, it’s being sold by the guy whom I sold it to at the shop that I dropped it off at and with the same scrapes and marking that were on it before. The only difference is that the car is 100,xxxkm light...
What do you think should be done about this, or should it be left alone.
i personally don’t think it is morally acceptable to do something like this, he is advertising it with 195,xxxkm and I know that when I sold it to him it was close to 300,xxxkm. I thought these practices were a thing of the past considering each time I renew my plate sticker I have to input my km, which if my memory serves me would have been around the 275,xxxkm mark. Unless this guy being a garage owner has someone one the inside manipulating the info.
let me know what you guys think.

it’s not a typo, I called him and he verbally confirmed it. Also told me it’s never been winter driven which is bull. The guy is trying to pull a fast one and it doesn’t sit well with me. Also trying to ask 5k more than what I sold to him for which I would do too if my car had 100km less!

I would definitely make it known to him that you know the mileage is a lie, and threaten to involve local authorities if he doesn't resolve it. Odometer rollback is illegal. Wouldn't this be exposed with a simple Carfax report though?

post vin number and maybe someone can run carfax, you could put a down payment buy the car yourself and turn around and sue the scumbag and call your state authorities - he is one of the reasons auto insurance is so high

really ?- wtf - he already committed the fraud - now you are allowing him to do it and to others - the fact that you say that you are complicit with the felony crime - and he may have already defrauded several before this - how would you like to be a victim of this ?

It's a federal offense here in the US. Can't imagine Canadadaia is much different.

w204, he had his chance to fix himself just before he decided to roll back the odometer.
BTW, the guy must have either some mad computer skills or is there another way to change the odometer reading? A replacement instrument cluster, perhaps?
Edited to add: OP, how about a link to the car advert?

List the car on the same places he has it with warning, and your story. Ive done that several times when i found lying sellers of cars.
I take good pictures and typically find picture of cars ive owned being used from scams. scum bags

it seems you already have enough proof, just relay the info to the authorities (and news channels) and let them investigate it. There could be many more people that's been scammed. They'll find out if so in an investigation.
