A/C Compressor Froze And Broke Off Motor Is This Common?
2005 w211 E55. My A/C compressor froze up which caused such a jolt in the motor that it broke a mounting bolt off the motor and broke part of the serpentine belt. The part that broke is still attached to the A/C compressor (right middle of pic). It went to the motor (left middle of pic). I have attached a photo of the issue. Has this happened to anybody before? What is the quickest fix for this to get my A/C back?

Honestly don't know, can you provide some more photo of the break and the AC compressor.

Now I see it, after your explanation. there isn't any easy way to do this, TIG welding could work, but you need to have access to the area.
And that might be a tight spot to get to.

It actually looks like there are two bolts that hold it on and one is missing. Does anybody know of any tutorials that give a good explanation of how to get the compressor out? I can’t figure it out without removing everything.

That is very not good lol. It could be welded but you need access and it has to be CLEAN, the cast aluminum that's covered in oil will not weld at all. Best bet is timing cover replacement if that's what it bolts into. Pretty sure that piece is some sort of bracket, not the engine block itself.

Good luck OP, I'm not sure anyone else has had this issue before. This might be a take it to the dealer moment. It'll be very pricey, but that might be a last option.

Compressor bolts are 910143-008001. M8 x 90
The timing cover is broken. It is shared with the 112K engine. 112-010-08-33 MSRP $745.00
It will be a lengthy repair.

Well I ended up having the part tig welded back on and it is very sturdy. I have mounted the Ac compressor with all three bolts. Unfortunately the one that I welded back on is slightly stripped but the other two are holding it on very solid. I have put blue locktite on the threads of the slightly stripped bolt and am letting it sit overnight. Will I be ok with this since it’s solid or should I tap it a size larger? The bolt will only move with a wrench and I am not worried about it falling out.
