I'm in the same situation as OP and I can confirm that I definitely have a header leak at the collector.
I have new kleemanns sitting in a box waiting to be installed and I'm not driving the car until I can put the new headers in.
but also, I simply can't sit with my windows open and the engine running at any time, the smell is overpowering. one time I forgot to turn it off as I had to go open the rear hatch and get some luggage out and the smell overpowered me and my passenger, she complained that she smelled like that the rest of the day
