Thermostat question
This may sound like a stupid question, but I searched and couldn’t find a definitive answer..Can anyone tell me if the thermostat housing and thermostat are 1 piece built into each other permanently?.Seems like all the images I’ve seen are of them being sold together as 1 unit..Or do they separate into 2 separate pieces like most assembly’s?..I’m asking because I will be installing a low temp thermostat this weekend and it came as thermostat only..What I’m hoping for is that the stocker separates from its housing. Can anyone confirm?..M113K by the way..Thanks..

The MB replacements I've seen came in one piece but the thermostat can be removed from the housing by pushing down and turning out of the two "ear" slots. It takes some force to do so though. If your aftermarket low temp thermostat doesn't fit all of the way down in it's spindle hole you may need to drill out your thermostat housing spindle hole a little deeper for it to seat properly. I had to do this on one of the low thermostats and it worked fine after. I think it was from Mishimoto.

Yes..Mishimoto it is...Didn’t want to have to make a dealer or store run once taken apart and would rather be prepared..I will have metal drill bits nearby incase I need to modify the housing...Thanks for the answer brother..Greatly appreciated...

Yes, there is enough material left after drilling. It doesn't take much more to drill there was already some clearance in the hole to begin with. If you can mic/measure it then just go slow and test frequently until it seats.

MBMG—-Just wanted to thank you again.I did the install today and indeed the Mishimoto’s tail was to long for the stock housing as you said. The drilling you suggested worked like a charm..I most likely wouldn’t have thought to do that..Thanks again brother!
