Nitrous Injected S/C AMG!

Hello, I'm new here and have been joining all the MB sites as I am now the proud owner of a 2004 S/C AMG and just now found this site to occupy some of my free time. Of all the sites I've joined so far, this on seems to have the most activity.

I would like some insight on the topic of nitrous oxide on these cars..

I was poking around on the corvette forum, (I have a 2002 Z06-BTW) and found that a company over there is successfully working on/testing a nitrous kit for these S/C cars and they have made some pretty impressive numbers so far. What do you think? I just had a modified S/C Mustang hand me my butt the other day, so I've got to do something...

I think you will be able to mod your Vette more than your AMG. I saw a video of a blown Z06 pumping 550HP TO THE WHEELS racing a modded Mustang Cobra with 620HP to the wheels and the Vette won by a half car length. With the light weight of the Z06 there isnt much that can beat you except a blown Viper.

But i can see how you would want all the safety equipment of the Benz when you hopefully DONT succeed in crashing. The AMG cars are kinda heavy. Iim sure you know that your warranty on the new 2004 AMG will be void with nitrous.

You are absolutely correct about the Corvette, but everyone expects that thing to be be fast and beligerant. No one expects that from a luxury/sports car that's whisper quiet and doesn't appear menacing.

It sure is gratifying to embarrass some of these guys w/ built domestic cars in front of their buddies with a four door, fully optioned sedan.

As far as the warranty goes, I really could care less if it voids it or not, because I drive and build my cars the way I want them and I'm not willing to wait forever for a warranty to expire just to get the car the way I want it. Besides, I've never really had any significant negative issues with German engineering anyway.

FYI.
I ordered a NOS system for the intercooler, I am hoping to maintain the power band a little longer.

a water/methanol injection may work best.

anybody experienced with installing superchargers on a variety of vehicles will know exactly how to create the system...alot of supercharged viper owners use a system like this.

A NOS system would work best IMO. Ony a 30 shot or similar would be required. The isea being to take the heat out of the intake charge. Low risk and big power gains. It's probably the next , mod I'll be trying.

ones too fast according to CHP!
We have some experience with a customer's car with NOS. It can be used very effectively if done right. One of our engineers was doign NOS drag cars and street racers way b4 Fast and the Furious!

Whomever would design and install the system really MUST be qualified and experienced. It is really more involved then just adding a bottle to make it safe.

Spraying into the intercooler is a very safe way to go, but will not yield the same results.
