Should I buy a E55 AMG
I was looking at purchasing a new car and I want something sporty and fun I was looking at some M3’s the. I found a W211 E55. I did my research as you do and I found it has some issues with the heat exchanger and auxiliary water pump pretty simple stuff it looks like and I can replace these parts easy I was a BMW technician for a part of my life; other than that they seem to be very reliable and a good road trip car besides the gas mileage, but will this be a good car for me to buy and keep the one I am look at buying has 80k miles full exhaust and a pulley

Main issues I've run into:
Depending on year the radiator could leak into the transmission. Valero radiator up to year 2004. I changed mine for peace of mind.
Sun roof motor
Air suspension
gas cap
Other big issues could be the gas tank if that was never fix with therecall. 15 yr warranty

It’s really all in the car you buy. Most are fine, just look for service records and have the fuel recal done. If you get one that’s been neglected for the wrong price though, it’ll clean your wallet out easily. Mine has had it’s fair share of expensive problems but I got it for cheap with the idea of fixing it so I expected that.

You can do all the labor which is great. Have a look at parts prices, they can add up, plug in whatever year E55 into pelicanparts.com and have a browse, check out the fuel pump assembly and sender assemblies, brakes etc. If you are in the USA parts are fairly cheap. If you are outside USA things can get expensive fast.

OP I loved my E-55. It was a 2006 that the Cubans fiddled together in Floriduh with many miles and a dinged title.
I got to do lots of work on it.... Most of it stupid car stuff... Oil leaks, ignition coils ect. Airmatic struts are more costly then standard stuff but do it once (buy from MB for best parts) and you don't ever need to think about it. Them Germans clever and made a laugh riot of a car.
Do it.
