E55 vs new M5 vs Maserati Coupe - No contest
So I thought I would weigh in on the E55 vs new M5 debate with just released "secret" data.
I own a 2004 E55. Most awesome car in the world. Period. When you race another car that can even remotely compete with the E55, simply ask the person to put two adults in the back seat. With two people in the front seats this car is FAST and HANDLES. With four adults in the car the next closest mode of transportation comes with wings or runs on tracks. Think about it...
Okay. So I want to have both an E55 and an M5. A blond and a red head. One with a big chest another more petite. Contrast.
Last weekend I went to my local BMW dealer where the sales person who sold me my E55 and S500 has moved. G is a great sales person that can make things happen.
"G, I want both the E55 and the new M5. Can you help me?"
"Eric, I'm sorry. We can't get you the new M5 for another nine months. Waiting lists and all."
"G, you sure? I really want a real one...today. I don't want to just read about it."
"Eric, I'm sorry..."
So much for the E55 / new M5 comparison.
Since my wife and I really do drive our cars every day to the same office...and folks started calling the E55 "her" car... I need to get a new car. The new 500+HP Vette? Not shipping yet. The RS6? Nah. The Viper? I said I drive my cars every day! 911? Too "common". Another E55 or S55? Tempting. But that would be like cheating on your wife with her twin sister. Not enough differences.
So I just bought a Maserati Coupe. Very nice car. Apparently an Enzo engine reduced from 12 to 8 cylinders. Nice leather interior. Two door, but we actually had a 250 6' 3" man in the back seat of this thing already (he wasn't very comfortable, but walking 10 miles would have been less comfortable for him).
But it still ain't the Beast! Anybody who debates on specs, etc and says something can beat my Beast simply doesn't own one and doesn't drive it every day.
I hope the Italians and Germans can get along!
So an E55 versus new M5 comparison? I know the person writing this entry wanted to do a real world every day comparison. But the M5 is still just a promise.
I can't drive a promise...

Eric,
The Gen III (SRT-10) Viper could easily be driven everyday. It's comfortable, power, and has great looks (for a Gen III
). I am a GTS owner and I would agree, I wouldn't be able to drive my Gen II around every for various reasons (ie. parking worries, the drool all over the car, accidents from people running into things while staring at the car, and too much fun
).
Congrats on the purchase, Maserati makes a cute little ride.

congrats on the new car!
just curious though, what other cars did you look at before you made your purchase? some people i know thought the Maserati looked too much like a jaguar XK from the front, and passed it up for a Benz CL
