175mm crank 77mm s/c pulleys... opinions...

Hey guys. This is my second E55AMG
I used to have 04 E55AMG with 83mm s/c pulley large h/e and high flow pump, ecu/tcu tunes from eurocharged. I loved how impressive it was I was stupid enough to sell it...
Ive had this one 05 E55AMG for a few years now. Kept it stock. Did some maintenance and made it look better. But here is the dilemma.
My crank pulley just went...
And im thinking about making it nice preformancewise now...
Stock crank pulley diameter is 158mm
stock s/c pulley diameter is 91mm
total diameter is 249+/-mm
im thinking of buying 175mm crank + 77 (252mm total) mm s/c + larger h/e + high flow pump + ecu/tcu tunes

i would like opinions guys please... thank you all

Welcome back and beautiful ride. I have a similar setup to what you desire just not as aggressive, running a 170mm crank and 77mm clutched upper pulley. This was running at at high altitude 5500ft to regain lost boost with larger heat exchanger, custom long tube headers and exhaust setup, with bosch 010 pump and w/m kit to help with cooling. I have recently relocated to sea level which is incredible the difference in power it has made, but the increased boost has really seen the IAT's go through the roof if I leave the w/m kit off. In a nutshell your plan is a bit to aggressive for just a larger h/e and pump setup and would see you going to need extra cooling. Hope it helps bud

what he said!
77mm up top will be fine on its own.....or a 170mm down below will be fine on its own.....the combo is going to push a lot

This is semi-relevant....but mostly for reference:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ey-matrix.html

you can see that you are climbing the chart into the heat zone quickly with the combo.

Thanks guys. That is exactly what I was affraid of. This car is my daily driver when im home( im a truck driver)
dont really want to go that deep into cooling. I wanted to keep it stock but this car becomes an addiction once u start going u dont stop got wife and kids, i dont even race bmw’s anymore) probably gona keep it stock for now, just gona get oem crank and save some money for the big project!! Thanks for your replies👍🏻

One thing I don’t understand tho...
if u getting a biger crank and keeping stock s/c pulley, arent u stretching ur tentioner and belt?...
i have recently see a guy with stock s/c and 180mm crank and he had a bwk on it... what the thinkinh behind this?

We have many customers running stacked pulleys, If you are choosing to do so I Would instead start with an 80mm Clutched upper, That could be paired with a 175 or 180 (Agressive) pulley in the future, you could also start with a 175 and with our modular crank the lower rings are only $120 each, and means you can painlessly change your stack as you continue to modify.

With a stacked setup you want to use the largest upper possible, This reduces chance of slip.

Heres the modular crank if you wanted to take a look at at

Dont waste your time with a stacked set up unless you are going a bigger ratio than what just one can get you. Stock upper is 90 and lower is 154. The ratio is what you care about not the addition of the two like you were talking about. 180mm lower VS 77mm upper both put you at a 2.0 ratio (lower devided by pper). I dont recommend going over that without extensive cooling.

Dont waste your money on buying two pulleys for basically the same ratio (such as a 168/83).

As drothgeb mentioned you can skip a crank pulley by downsizing to a 72 or 70mm pulley aswell.

https://vrpspeed.com/product/70mm-supercharger-pulley/

The post that Funktron linked will show you that you can achieve very similar ratios with stacked pulleys as with downsized uppers

To answer your question here. You can run different size pulleys but obviously you need to pair it up with a new correct length belt. So in a nut shell if you changing a pulley size you change the belt size to.

Interested in your 76mm supercharger pulley combo. When do you expect to restock the 76 mm pulley and who does the flash tunes for you?

Since you need to buy a lower pulley anyway, Get a 180 and be done with it.
I'm curious how that modular pulley dampens harmonics. I don't see any rubber in it??

I have the modular an it is amazing its basically a fluid dampner there is fluid inside that does it. Its one of the best upgrades ive done to date. IATs arent too bad i have 7 gallon trunk tank 3/4 line reprogrammed emp pump an it stays pretty cool and itll get better when my custom intercooler gets done. I may do meth as well at same time. But its doing great so far without either. Im running a stacked with a custom 187mm lower and 83mm upper. At 5000 ft above sea level i am making 12.5psi when before with a 76mm upper stock lower barely hit 7.5 to 8psi on a good day. Full throttle pull on a 92 degree day from 1st to top of 3rd still only hits 140 iats, but recovery is so fast with that trunk tank and emp pump. Within seconds its down below triple digits

I hope you able to do a before and after dyno on just the 90mm tb.. That would be my next mod too. Waiting on the numbers on what that does power wise.

Update

Got another Stock crank which is wobbling for some reason maybe bad quality(400$ from amazon)
Now im really upset for wasting money
trying to make things right
can i have opinions on 170/84 setup? Is it safe? 180 crank isnt im sure, 77 alone is too much for me so i want to balance it with 170-84 setup.
what u guys think? What cooling do i need?
larger he and ic pump be enough?
thank u all

Is the pulley you purchased an OEM one? Did your old pulley come apart or did it just wobble?

I had my car at the dealer for a recall and they said it needed a pulley due to wobbling. They wanted $1300 to do the job, so I ordered up a new pulley and installed it. The old one had a very small amount of wobble. The new one (fresh date code) was not perfect either. In hindsight, I would have left it alone had the dealer not said anything.

Old one didnt wobble at all. New one which looks and says oem could be not … im ordering a crank pin kit from moscor supercharge, they say it will take care of the issue
they recommend safe 172/84 setup with large he and ic pump, 2nd he and split cooling
