DIY-Run power to glove box from cig lighter (easy way)?
Hey Guys---I have searched around for this but couldn't find much detail.
I purchased a hardwired (for power) bluetooth module for the aux input and I want to tap in to the cig power and feed that into the glove box. Im looking for some simple step by step direction on how to accomplish this? I read on this thread that it is easy to do (10 min job) https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...glove-box.html but they don't give much direction. So I remove ashtray, tap in to cig lighter, remove wood trim and route behind the wood into glove box? Or do I route some other way?
Here is what I purchased: https://www.ebay.com/itm/APS-Univers...a2ab%7Ciid%3A1
Will these taps suffice?

Cheers.

You need to open 2 places to work: the passenger footwell cover and ashtray/lighter module. The latter can be removed by bare hands. If memory serves me, apply parking brake, shift in D (easier to open), turn off ignition, open ashtray door, pull up by the edge of the gearshift cover, move it forward to disengage rear tabs + slide it backwards out of the way, pull the ashtray/lighter module out enough to expose connectors. Use knickknacks to protect gloss finish while working. The footwell cover is trivial too, but need a screwdriver. Snake the wire between the carpeting and plastic HVAC components. Make sure the new wire is routed/affixed to not interfere with the mechanisms. Use zip ties and sticky anchor pads. Tap on to a thick brown wire from the cig harness. I would do this project in this general way. Sorry, no step-by-step. This is truly basic, but more than 10 minutes. Best of luck.
