Long Tube Headers
So I'm getting ready to get a set of Long tube Headers that are long overdue . 650cc Injectors and a 77mm Clutched Pulley to go with the Uncorked Exhaust .
I know there are a lot of options to choose from . From Excellent quality and fitment which has an excellent price tag to go with them to the China junk which looks good and much cheaper so so fitment and a decent price tag .
That old saying goes " You get what you pay for " . Any recommendations as far as the fitment and Quality . I was looking at the MBH Motorsports Long tubes and Cats and the ARH Racing Headers . . Any input on this pricey project would be much appreciated .
Maybe the China knockoffs are good . I just don't want to spend 8 or 9 hundred bucks to find out . Thanks Everyone .

I personally avoid buying anything made in China. As they produce a lot of crap.
But if the headers are of a decent quality and fitment, then go for it.
I personally have Kleeman headers on my E63.

Honestly Tim, I have bought anything substantial this year. And truthfully, I don't need much.

About 6 moths ago I replaced a set of shorty headers with a full set of MBH with hi-flow cats and an x-pipe in place of the secondary cats....running to the stock E55 mufflers.
After about five minutes of driving I was pissed at myself for not making the move ten years ago. They transformed the car and improved nearly every aspect of the driving experience. I for one can appreciate the high quality fitment , awesome sound and increased performance that spending the extra money brings.
I am not saying that there are not decent options out there that cost much less....Alex from LSC proved that. Although I wouldn't be surprised if five different sets of those knock off headers yielded five different install/fitment problems.
Two things I would say are a deal breaker when installing LTH:
1. Don't F with the oxygen sensors! Don't cut them to extend them and don't use a pre-wired extension. If the kit doesn't come PnP, steer clear. Your just asking for trouble.
2. Install a set of high-flow cats. Not only do I think the bit of back-flow sounds better, but they won't stink you out and you will have a much easier time with emissions. Besides it's the responsible thing to do.
Good luck man, and if you want to hear my car, just hit me up (I'm in Falls Church).

Hey , Thank you so much for that info !! I'm going to go ahead with the MBH's .I wasn't too sure about those Cats with the long tube extensions but if they are working then sweet . I have heard nothing but good things and what you just told me is sealing the deal . Hell yea my friend , I would love to hear what your car sounds like so I can look forward to what mines going to sound like . I've been hunting axle back systems for a long time too and I think loosing all of that BS up front and keeping the stock mufflers is the ticket . When do you have time . I work a lot so Sunday mornings my I do my best to **** my wife off with my bad driving habits , HeeeHeeeHeee . Na , just kidding . My driving habits aren't that bad !! Hit me up , We are in North Springfield . Thanks for the response . Nice to meet you .
You will have to forgive me , I'm still new to this form so I'm not sure how to send private invite .

I would love to run long tubes but the Emission thing bothers me. I did some serious work to my PLM shorty headers and down pipes that took forever to get setup and in the end long tubes would have been far more easy to do.

@Worth the wait would love to hear your setup if you wouldn’t mind uploading a clip
did you have the cats integrated into your headers or x-pipe? You recommended not extending the O2 sensors so I was wondering how far the stock ones reach
thanks!

No clips, sorry...but there are already a ton out there with this set-up.
The primary O2 sensors were plugged into the MBH headers in the same spot as stock. The secondary O2 sensors went bye-bye.
I have not changed my tune since I added the headers. I do occasionally get a check engine light when I really get on it (like at the 1320'), but it resets fine.
When I have it retuned I will have them shut off the rear sensors.

long tube headers
I run MBH long tubes on my car. I have GESI cats mounted after the collector, with primary 02's the same as 'worth the wait' but I have an x pipe right after cats with bungs for the second 02's. I have 90 deg. adapters and use the factory 02 wiring unmolested, so it is possible to do from an emission legality standpoint. Never any check engine light with my set up.

i bought a set of used MBH from a forum member and LOVE them. i havent been turning wrenches long at all on cars and i had them installed in about 5 to 6 hours. fit perfectly with zero issues. they helped with sound quality as well. i paid $2200.00 used and its the best money ive spent on my car to date. my wife was pissed i spent that much but then i let her drive it. shes cool with it now, lol
