welp, my engine decided to let go at 82001 miles lol. What would you do?
I don't buy the Oring failure issue, because of the lack of statistical data. But that's me. These engines are getting older, though.

I’d pick up a complete E500 engine at your favorite junkyard, throw all the M113K accessories on and sell at full price. Someone else’s problem lol.

As these cars are worth more for their some of parts. As for me, I love my 07 E63, so I would search for a replacement engine, as I have another vehicle to drive. But that's me

Sometimes we invest way to much money, into these cars to just let them go, and I understand this all to well, having dropped $7500 into my car within a last 4 months (engine, paint, stereo and interior upgrades)
Other than here any other recommendation s where i could throw the car up for sale in its condition?

I had an audio shop replace, all of the old speakers with new Focal speakers, install Alpine Amplifiers and a Audison Digital Sound Processor along with JL Audio Subwoofer and enclosure.
And all that was very expensive, so I have more money wrapped up into the car, then what the cars actual value is. I love my E63, and I feel your pain.
Please search for a replacement engine thru www.car-parts.com, I've had my car for 12 years, and I would like to keep it for another 12 years. As it's cheaper to keep her, then buy another $116,000 E63S.
In 12 yrs, these AMG might be even more or run on electricity. I hate to see this beautiful CLS55 go to waste, just because of a engine. Wait a minute my shop has one. Give Benz Elite Automotive in Fairfax VA a call at 703-370-1221.

Too bad you're in CT, I'd be interested in a project CLS but the $2k shipping costs and the repair would quickly put this over the cost of buying a running CLS.

Get it running with the absolute bare minimum needed and either enjoy or sell and don’t tell anyone what happened. Junkyard N/A motor with your old SC would be the cheapest way out of this.

There are 55 SC engines out there. May have more miles but at least it will be the correct engine. N/A engine with the SC on it and not telling someone.........is total BS.
Hell one forum members E55 was recently totaled and he just posted about it a day or so ago. His car is at Copart in Atlanta I think. I also believe there is another E55 in the market place ads that is being parted out.

With a good detail in an out, the car would be a 9 out of 10. which is why i would rather sell it whole. has a few small dings and dents here and there, but nothing very noticeable, and something pdr guy would bang out in a few hours.
I already sourced a motor for around $2k , but no blower, and would have to swap out a bunch of my engine parts as well. the problem is i dont have the time to do it, and to pay someone will probably cost me another $2k or more.....i see these listed at around 12k all pimped out, and over 100k, and some for 20k+ in excellent shape but less miles than mine,. lastly dont want to buy a motor and who ever wants to buy the car isnt interested in the motor i purchased or i sit on the motor and the warranty is no longer valid.
what are these car fetching realistically nowadays?
anyone have any luck with those "extended" warranties that we probably have all received a phone call for at one point or another?
You're not going to get much for the car with a blown engine.
You would get more money buying a 2k engine and paying someone 2k to install it then you would if you sold it as is.

Go here https://www.autotempest.com/ and put your car info in. Look through the CL ads along with the others it pulls up for you.
The engine and swap was surprisingly affordable. Not cheap, but not unmanageable.
I've been getting on my friend's case recently about doing mine. He's worked at an indy MB/BMW shop for 20 years now. It's just hard to find a Sat/Sun that he's free to do it. I'm hoping to get them done sometime within the next few months.

If it was my car, I'd put a new engine in it and keep driving it.

So I said why not, since the head bolts required replacing. These head bolts look a little crusty. The valve tappets were in decent shape for their mileage.
The SLS valve tappets differs from the stock, as they have a graphite coating on them for better lubrication. Changing the tappets got rid of my slight ticking noise
