Exterior door handle screw specs, replacement, or alternative?
Lost the screw that holds the smaller piece of the exterior door in place. Can’t find a screw with the proper threading at hardware store. Called my stealer and they said they can’t locate it. Any ideas? Mine fell inside the door and we can’t locate even with the door panel off that sucker is in there

Is there any access points on the door, that you could tie a small magnet to, or get a hanger or something in there to fish around with to locate it.

no access points on perimeter of the door. The screw is wedged somewhere and can’t be seen. Problem with the magnet is that it just magnetizes to the rest of the door

Yes, after I mentioned magnet, I realized that it would attach itself to all things steel inside the door. Are there any drain plugs on the bottom of the door. I only ask, because I have actually looked for myself.

no drain plugs. It has to be pretty buried because I’ve spent quiet a bit of time searching for the screw in the door and being that I can’t see inside the door 100% it makes it difficult. I even put my phone in the and took a bunch of photos and it’s not visible

There are so many metric sizes and thread pitch combinations you will spend a lot on time trying to sort it out. How about you very carefully remove the screw from the other side door handle and match from that. That effort will be a fraction of the time you can spend trying different screws. Good luck.

I was at pull a part today and they had an 01 s class. I took the bolt off that car. Looks about the same. I hope it’s the right size.
