I think the issue is not "why do it?" but more "why, this looks better than the real 7"

The new 7
Oh my god is that ugly!


BMW should have made one and displayed it at the auto shows BEFORE they introduced the new 7. After the uproar, they could have trotted out the real thing and everyone would have loved it.

That is freakin hilarious! Plus did you notice that City Loan has it for sale so it must have been re-po'ed as well!

Ugly as it is, it isn't too much worse than the original. Could be Chris Bangles everyday work car. With BMW's sales slumps he'll soon be delivering pizzas in it.
