Stephens 540 rwhp E55 package

Curious if anyone has purchased this yet in the US. If so how long did it take you to receive it? I can't wait to get it as I purchased it 35 days ago and am still awiating it.

Apparently they are in stock as I have talked to Stephen but I have not received a tracking number or validation that it has been shipped.

Has anyone installed and dynoed pre/post with this kit?

Thanks!

Stephens 540rwhp kit

I was doing some searching on this site (I am a newby with an '04 E55) and I was looking at Stephens E55 kit. It looks great however touting 540rwhp seems pretty high. I would love to be pleasantly suprised but know dynos can vary quite a bit. Too bad you are having problems getting your Stephens kit.

There seems to be some good reputable tuners with Kleeman and EvoSport and of course there is always Renntec.

I am definitely considering a kit for my car soon but will only buy from a reputable dealer. Please let me know if it works out. If not I will know not to purchase from him.

I have been looking into it also and haven't heard anything yet...

Stephens mentioned that he had alot of stuff in stock because I was primarily interested in the cooling upgrade but I haven't heard back from him on it.

I have been in contact with Stephen daily. I am sure he is swamped though as he runs an IT company in Melbourne.

I have paid in full for the kit but still not received the kit or received a tracking number. I ordered it in mid June and its August now.

Apparently he has 6 full kits in stock -- headers, pulley, and cooling system in stock but I still have not seen anything which makes me wonder. Apparently my first kit was shipped on TNT (no tracking #) but oddly enough it never showed up so he said he is sending me another kit. I really hope I get it soon...fingers crossed.

Will let you know if/when I get it and any dyno results.

Has anyone else in the US received his kit yet? Am I the guniea pig?

I think I have my mind made up and now I am going to get the Evosport evolution 1 setup (pulley + programming) and later go with the evolution 2(headers). I think Stephens has a nice setup but something about the trans-continental shipping/customer service bothers me. Also, if I have a problem the damn phone bill will kill me. The pulley pics of the Evosport setup look higher quality and also the headers bolt up to the factory exhaust without welding/cutting. I'll baseline my car on a dyno soon and do the mods separate(stage 1 then stage 2) to give some unbiased info from a separate dyno. The fact that evosport gives a fully dampened crank pulley and underdrive accessory pullies gives me some confidence that the mod will be durable and long lasting. Header quality from the pics also show a higher quality with the individual tubes being tuned from evosport. Of course I'll do the install myself and let you guys know how well everything fits and ease of installation.

After a week of going back and forth, I too have decided to go with EvoSport. Renntech, the guy was just plain arrogant and basically called everything else "crap". Brabus is just way overpriced. EvoSport Ben was just a pleasure speaking with him. Only downside is the fact that I'm gonna be without the car for 3 days...don't know how to hide it from the wifey the fact that the car is just sitting in the driveway doing nothing.

My car only has like 300 miles on it so far and I have not dyno'ed stock. I will however, dyno with the upgrade and I will post results as soon as all this is done.

Yeah if I can't get this transcontinential shipment thing straightened out in the next day I am going to cancel my order and get a refund. I have a $256 phone bill for 22 calls to Austrailia over the past 45 days...UGGG.

I know what you mean about the wife wondering whats up...I always have to think about that too. She would flip if she knew that we potentially didn't have a warranty.

So is EVO also going to be producing a cooling system soon too?

Oh by the way I spoke to Stephen today and he said he sold his modded E55 for 220K Australian dollars...not sure the exact conversion but it seems like he said 150K USD....top dollar if I am not misunderstanding it.

Has anyone looked into the two performance kits offered by Hennessey Performance? The first one touts to increase performance by 75hp. The second one brings the overall performance to 640hp. Here is there website: http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/...ctionReq=Where

Interesting to see them in the game. I have a hard time believing that with all these upgrades the hp/tq is only 640/620 and since when has tq been less than hp for this car? This **** is expensive. Looks very through though. I am suprised I do not see any cooling mods.

Stephen's lat e-mail indicates that he does have 6 kits in stock but the tracking # he gave to me 2 days ago for the second time does not showup in the TNT system. This is highly suspect. I am having an investigation issued by my credit card. Please use better judgement than mine in dealing with this vendor.

If anyone has any historical information on their dealings with Stephen I would appreciate if you would e-mail me in private as I have to get this crap straighened out.

<<Isaac
The kits are in stock, I currently have six of them. It should be shipped on Monday.

I guess a kit from his is out from my stand point, thanks for sharing your experience and sorry for getting ripped off. I will likely go with EvoSport.

I have been reading some posts from Stephen and doesn't he have a Ferrari and a bunch of other nice cars? I wouldn't expect someone that is so wealthy to try to snag people's $$. Weird situation.

I just ordered the evolution 1 package from evosport today and will post the results once I install it then go with the evolution 2. Hopefully, I'll get some track times too to back up their hp/tq claims. Sorry to hear about the problems with the Australian connection. Yes, evosport will be doing the cooling mods soon in another package.

Good to hear you are picking up the Evo package. How long do you think the install will take? I'll pay you to do my install. We are only 100 miles away. I hope to make another outting to MIR this summer. We should meet up.

When do you think you will have your kit installed?

I was told that the evo 1 kit would only take approx 1 hour to install (pullies + computer). I'll do my car first and advise on the install. Later.

You will be better off installing the Kleeman Kompressor kit upgrade on these motors! Drove one a few months ago and they really are serious when they say " Comfort Power"!

The headers probably won't take more than 3-4 hours depending upon bolt access in a cramped engine bay. Since they don't need welding or cutting it may take less time than my estimate. I'm sending my computer to Evosport today and hopefully will have the pullies this week and complete stage 1.

Sounds great....love racing at MIR...always a pleasure because of how well things are organized. I'm going to take the crank pulley off tomorrow in preparation of the new pulley coming. Everything looks straight forward.

Exclamation *****Stephen's Kit update*****

No Stephen has failed to supply the kit.

Let me inform all of the facts so that everyone is very aware of this merchants activities and reliabliity.

Note: I realize I am a sample size of 1 but when I earlier attempted to see if anyone else in the US had purchased and acquired his kit I realized that I was likely the only person that had purchased it. Stupid me. So I will leave any inference of fraud or deception up to you but here are the facts:

Order Date June 26th
Purchase Date: Paypal $6,300
Date promised: 2 weeks (10 days shipping via TNT)
In stock amount quoted: 6 kits

Contact on my part to Stephen: 71 e-mails, 33 phone calls ($398 from home - rest from office.

Shipping/Tracking #s provided by Stephen: 2 bogus #s that do not register anything on www.tnt.com

Reason #1: Stephen Claims it was shipped. I verify by TNT's #800 number of no such shipment. Later Stephen says it was stolen by an insider.

Shipment #2: Stephen says customs would not pick it up.

Refund: Stephen attempted to issued refund but my bank said there was no such effort made. His reply: It won't go through internationally.

Refund #2: He would not refund via paypal because it would cost me $256 in a transaction fee.

I hope you all get the picture that this merchant is likely highly unethical and/or highly unresponse to customers. So far its been a nightmare dealing with Stephen as all I have to show is headaches and a loss of $6300 so far. My bank is now on the case.

While I can only speak for myself I would high restrain from ordering or dealing with this merchant. On a 1 to 10 I would rate my experience a complete zero. Please take heed and caution in dealing with this merchant. Its sad because if his kit exists (I have no proof it does) it would have been a decent buy. BUYER BEWARE.

Sorry to hear of the troubles with the Aussie connection. All of Stephen's posts lead me to believe that he is an upstanding guy and honest. Maybe I'm incorrect in that assumption. My dealings with Evosport have been pleasant and their service has been very quick. I ordered the evo 1 upgrade last Fri(8/6) and they should be here either tomorrow or Fri this week. The ECM will be here tommorow for sure from Powerchip as I have a confirmation sent from Fed Ex next day service. As I said in a previous post I'll advise as to the upgrades after I finish my car. If things go as planned I wouldn't mind helping out some of the MBworld members that are in the area.

Awesome! Let us know on how your progress goes. I have decided for SURE this time to go with Kleeman ECU and pulley...as for headers, I think I will go with Evo. Since you're in Richmond and I'm in Fairfax, if all goes well I'll drive down and we can work something out on header install? Good luck on your project and keep us posted!

Please post the details concerning the Kleeman upgrades for the Kompressor V-8 cars including claimed performance gains and price. The Kleeman website seems to be vague on the subject and no pics are provided. The Evosport parts appear to be high quality from the pics I have seen.
