Bouncy BC Coil Overs
Gentlemen, I have had nothing but problems with the BC racing coil over set since install, and BC racing offers no help at all. The front end bounces all over the place no matter how soft or hard I turn the setting.
I set the "preload" the way the instructions advised.
Does anyone have any suggestions before I go back to air suspension?
thank you.

Bouncy usually means that the shocks are not controlling the spring. Could be underrated shocks or dead shocks.
Unless you mean jiggle.

Pre load was set exactly like they show on the video on their web site, and from what I have researched, it is not supposed to effect bounce. The front end bounces up and down over bumps like there are no shock absorbers, only springs. The shocks came with the kit, and it has been like this since day one of the install, no matter what I set the rebound control knob to, all the way soft or all the way hard, or in between.

Actually, they had oil in them from factory, I remember I had to squeeze hard to compress in order to get them in to place for install. If there was no oil, there would be no need for force to compress the shocks. I just think they are crap coil overs and will probably order Arnotts, I haven't seen anyone complain about them.

I love mine and I wen't up on spring rates as well. 1,000 fronts are a little stiff but it's a heavy car and handles pretty well with them. Will drive 400 miles for racing with no complaints at all.

Did you loosen or replace any other bushings while you were in there? I had a very bouncy ride in the rear when I put my coilovers on because I didn't have the suspension set to the proper ride-height when I torqued the bushings. (rookie mistake)
If you have the suspension in full droop when you tighten the bushings, it will preload the rubber when you put it on the ground and will give you a very bouncy ride and could kill your bushings in short order if you don't fix it.

if your lower shock mount is threaded...you'll need to ensure that your shock stroke is in line with the right height you specify otherwise you'll have a bouncy car.
essentially your shock height needs to match with the spring height to allow for your shock to operate in the correct stroke region.

corner weighting seems to have a lot to do with ride quality also. I am fairly new to adjustable coil-overs but have been experimenting with weight distribution and other settings. I had the back of the car to low in comparison to the front and that shifted the weight to the back in turn. the front was "bouncy" for lack of a better term. I brought the rear up slightly transferring more weight to the front and the issue went away. Also i noticed that if you increase the preload you need to stiffen the damper to compensate. There is so much more to lowering a car for performance than I thought about before i started messing with adjustments.

My Arnott's conversion as delivered works a treat on my 06 E55 and also on my son's 03 E500. The ride is just like it is on sport setting.

So... I took everything off and reinstalled and still had the problem. Then I took of the strut bar - aluminum bar mounted on top of the struts, runs across the engine, under the hood - and viola, the bounce went away. So learn from my mistake, and do not have a strut bar installed with coil overs. I had it in place when I had the air suspension in order to tighten things up a bit, and it worked fine, but for whatever reason the bar makes the coil over behave horribly.
Thanks for all the input.

There should be no effect of bounce with a strut bar. I have put them on every car I have owned and my present E55 has a custom made one that is extremely stiff . Something else going on with this issue you had.

I don't know, I have strut bars on other vehicles also, but I know for certain once I took it off, the bouncing stopped.
