Cats making car slower?

Hey guys I have a 2003 CL55 with the m113k engine and it sometimes throws a p0420 code or a p0432 code for the cats I was wondering if that makes the car slower in any way? I will eventually remove the cats completely but I was just wondering if this slows the car down. thanks!

I'm taking my car to the drag strip but it's 90 miles away from me so I want to know if it's even worth it

Doubtful, back in my shop days we saw one, maybe two cars with power issues due to failed cats, and they were 200k miles+ and you could hear the cats rattling loudly inside the exhaust. Only then would a honeycomb lodge sideways and restrict exhaust flow.

Go blow some carbon out!

Do a pressure test on the exhaust. Pull the upstream o2 and install the gauge and see where you are at. You will have an answer right away.

This place is a joke.
Make sure your intercooler pump is working, and it's been replaced at least once since the car was new.

Yes I replaced it 1 week ago, it used to cut power a lot.
