Nasty screw in wheel - to repair or not?
Just got a sweet screw in my rear tire on my way home.
I'm leaning on not repair due to safety but would like opinions before I decide. Tires are fairly new.
Look at the horror

Leaking or not I'd want to patch or plug it. I started plugging my own tires awhile ago after I managed to get 8 nails in one year. I've never had any issues with the cheap plug kits you can find at Walmart, on the e55 up to 140 mph or my truck with 80psi in them. Looks a little close to the sidewall but I'd plug or patch and keep going.
I'm pretty sure Discount Tire will plug or patch for free regardless of whether you got the tires from them or not

Depends on the tire shop. Some major chains won't touch it, but the local mom and pop shops will probably do it. When it's in the outer ribs, they usually won't repair it, only if it's in the inner ribs. But people get them repaired all the time and as long as you don't drive too crazy, it should be ok. When no one will fix it, usually those DIY repairs kits will also work.

I took it to the tireshop today, will pick up tomorrow.
i won't buy Goodyear replacement. Goodyear F1 is what I have now which is *****. Only hope these will last the season.
Thinking about Pirelli p-zero or Micheline pilot sport 3. Opinions?
