After-Market Air Filters

Hey guys my M113K currently has the stock air box with the stock air filters and they are starting to look pretty dirty, I want to order some new ones but I came across some washable ones links below..

1. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...ilter-30-10189

2. https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/dryflo/

3. https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/10084/

4. https://www.knfilters.com/mercedes-b...l-v8-gas/2004/

So those are some that I found, I am pretty sure they are all very similar but the thing is I love the supercharger whine sound so I am not sure if I should just buy cheaper oem ones and later down the line upgrade the whole intake system to those tubes people put... example below..

Example: https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/3%d...um-intake-kit/

I also wanted to ask if anyone here is running one of those dry / reusable ones and hears any sounds difference or maybe a bit more hp but it would be hard to tell. oh and that vrp one is crazy expensive if you ask me.

I run AFE Pro Dry S filters in both my AMG's. There is a noticeable difference in sound and the dyno shows a 8hp bump in HP but you can't feel it.

Wow I didn't think there would be much difference.

I use OEM Mann filters which I replaced every year. If I would do any air upgrade it would be the renntech airbox. The cone style intake is just for show from what I heard.

Renntech is over priced, and not sure which ones you mean by cone style if its the one I linked I think they are so ugly but it makes the whine louder which I do like.

Yes, renntech is very pricey but I looks good and make a little power according to people here.

With cone style I mean the ones you linked

Yeah renntech looks the best and they all claim power.. I think the stock intake setup with some spacers is more then enough but if the tube ones make a big sound difference I want those just for the whine,

I run a pair of Weistec drop in air filters. They are thinner and they do not stick down into the air inlet tubes. Which is why some raise their air boxes.

Weistec air filter

Stock paper filter

No need for oiled filters, IMHO. They were the go-to years ago when a flow advantage actually existed but dry filter technology has advanced to a comparable level.

Have read good things about the AEM & Green Filter options but have no direct experience with them.

aFe Pro Dry S filters are excellent (used them on 4 different vehicles) as are the Weistec ones.

I have these filters too. I have no idea if they sound better or offer more oomph as they came with the car. I mostly love that I can clean them myself at shorter intervals, typically with each 5k oil change which I imagine would help with performance vs dirty filters.

Can’t you just weld the silencer ports shut like on an eaton, 100+ bucks on some filters sounds dumb
