Folding the rear seats the right way

Many people don't like how the folding rear seats in w211 Mercedes Benz E class function. Many don't fold it properly. I am using my w211 E63 AMG to show you how to PROPERLY fold the seats. I am also sharing a tip that ISN'T mentioned in the user manual which will make seating in the front much more comfortable for passengers. I was hesitant about making this video since I thought everybody knew everything about W211s by now. However, there are some features that aren't obvious. There are new owners who haven't figured everything out yet. Hope it helps someone.

Can you make the video about 9 minutes shorter?

Sorry I didn’t make it longer on purpose. I just wanted to say my thoughts :-)

Lack of folding seats was one of the reasons steering me away from E55. You should write up the process if you undertake that project.

Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing. Personally I didn't know you could remove the bottom cushion. I bet there are members that will find the info useful

That's great to hear. So glad it helped. I just couldn't accept that the front seats wouldn't move back when the rear seats were folded. I had to find a way to trick the computer and make the life of my passenger easier

Wow....I just learned something new. After 13 years of owning this car, I didn't know that the rear cushion separates from the frame.
How could I not know that, although I never put anything in the car, that requires the rear seat to fold down.
I have an BMW X5M for those situations. Wow, now I'm smarter for it.

I have transported Ikea furniture in it 😂 Just the thought and realizing that I was carrying a furniture in AMG made me smile and giggle like a kid on the way back home 😀

I was thinking Germans didn’t know

Where do you think up this stuff, in order to make a video of it? Did you know that your D1S HID bulbs dim over time. Might be an interesting topic for a future video.
As a lot of W211 owners of E55's and E63's are going to LED instead of the HID replacement bulbs. I replace mine every four years regardless.

I just couldn’t accept the fact that the front seats didn’t move back with the rear ones folded. Not the best seating position for my passenger on a 2-hour long ski trip I wondered how the car knew the seats were folded and decided to trick the computer

I have to change the headlight bulbs too. They start up white but then turn yellow I saw that LEDs result in a weird light pattern. I think I will just get new OEM bulbs. What brand do you use?

I used Phillips D1S HID bulbs, I believe they were 4000K. But maybe wrong.

If you already have passengers in the seat, all they have to do is hit the seat button pushing it back so that it stops it from moving forward as soon as you flip the lever to fold them down.

I think LED might actually be going backward. The HID might be brighter, but they were more expensive so it was a limited option. When LED came out, it was standard across all 2014+ models. I believe factory is 4300k.
