ventilated seats, how to tell

I can hear the fans running and there is a slight clicking sound, but holding a piece of tissue paper next to the exhaust grill in the back produces no movements and keeping a wet hand next to the grill does not produce cooling. I wondered if there is some type of colored smoke that I could put in a jar and put it on the seat in front and see if anything comes out the back.

The grill in the back is an intake. The air comes from the perforations on the seating surfaces.

On a hot day, trust me, your back won't sweat.

I am with Adam on this one. My E55 and E500 have it but I did not order my SL55 to spec (last minute decision took it as is for the order date had passed) and I sweat in my SL55. In the E's I never sweat on warm days but the black SL makes me bake.

Try it when you're wearing shorts - you'll feel it. Better yet - your girlfirend in a real short skirt w/ thong - just don't tell her in advance

girl friend etc.l

I'm 66 and if I ever got a girl friend with short skirts with or without a thong I don't thinl that testing the ventilated seats would ever cross my mind.

You would have to think it was the Northern Europeans riding around naked in their cars that invented this option.

Question A non-performing ripoff

My "active ventilated" seats aren't! The dealer says they are working as intended; what a joke!! My old W210-based E55 worked so well that I had to turn down the degree of ventilation to avoid being chilled eventually; with these, my back sweats for 20-25 minutes on a hot day before the leather drops to cabin temperature.

Now some of us apparently have better performing seats than the rest of us have to suffer with. That has caused me to wonder if the problem is not with the seat fans but rather with, perhaps, a closed air duct that prevents cool air from being delivered under the seat.

Anyone else consider this and look into it?

I can tell the cooling ventilation is working, my wife cant seem to tell as well. I will agree, it has a very low movement of air. Personally, I was expecting more. Also, it does take awhile to cool leather in hot enviroment.

2005 Brilliant Silver E55
In my E500 I had active ventilated seats and I thought they were pretty useless but now that I dont have them in my E55, I regret no getting them. I find my butt and back sweating more now in this HOT VA heat.
