Tire problems with 2003 E55

I purchased a new 2003 E55. The car was delivered with Continental Tires which I consider the worst tires I have ever experienced. The front tires began cupping at 3500 miles and fortunately the dealer agreed to replace them with another pair of Continentals. This second pair began cupping in approx. 3,500 miles as well. The cars alignment was checked and double checked by the dealer. It was claimed by the dealer that this is normal for this vehicle. Frankly, I find that very difficult to believe. I just replaced the Continentals with a set of Michelin PS2's . I would appreciate any comments.

I have conti's on my '03 as well, and share your sentiments for them. I'm just planning on swapping them out for the new Michelin PS2s come next spring.

I just replaced the conti's after 12000mi. I don't drive the car hard and didn't understand why they wore so quickly. I was never thrilled with the tires...lots of road noise and average performance. Replaced them with Mich. PS2's. Can't judge the PS2's yet.

I have a CLK 500 and have the same cupping issue and it continued to get worse even after the bolt kit was put in. The dealer has offered to replace the 2 front tires (Pilot Sports) but until they can get the alignment settings sorted out (too much toe in?) I will wait.

When my conti's wore out around 19k miles I replace them with the PS2s. They took about 100 miles to break in, but once they were broken in I wished I would have replaced them day 1.

Read my post under Alignment,, perhaps it will help. Apparently this is a common problem and MB has not resolved it. Our E500 was having the same issues. Jim

Quick question: What pressure are you running the PS2s at?
