2004 E55 Child Safety locks on back doors
So, can someone tell me how to lock the back doors on my $90,000 E55 so that my 4 year old son doesn't open the door and jump out while we are stopped at a stop light?

I'm wondering if the doors automatically lock at 10 or so MPH like they do in my W210? Once that happens you can't open the rear doors unless you hit the unlock or open the front doors.

I don't want him to be able to get out of the car.) I thought Mercedes was supposed to be a leader of the pack in safety, yet they don't have something as simple as child door locks on the rear doors.

Another question, is there a way to open the rear doors without the driver pushing the unlock button in the front?? ....I get tired of doing that for the rear passenger everytime when I drop them off.

are the w211 door locks like the w220? The locks on the w220 are vacuum sucked and it's pretty damn hard to pull the lock up, even for an adult, let alone a child.
or are the w211 locks the "golf tee" style?

Trust me, my little guy gets his share of spankings........but come on, he's only three years old....three year olds have short attention spans, they get over excited, and sometimes...just sometimes, they make mistakes. It only takes one mistake on their part (no matter how much you discipline them) to forget that they're not supposed to open the door, and get run over by another car in a parking lot. Mercedes should have put a damn child safety lock on this car.
I'm going to try finding a smooth door lock to replace the golf-tee style door lock. I think that will work pretty well, and give me some peace of mind.

First off I don't buy into the crap about it only being a 3 year old. I did not pull things like that when I was a kid. It was very clear what I could and could not get away with.
Now it is time for me to be the total *** I am. Maybe we should say hello to our friend Mr. Darwin. :v

Like I said, it's not a matter of "pulling crap like that", it's a matter of 3 year olds being excitable and forgetting they're not supposed to do something in their excitement (like excitement over something they may see out a car window). I did stuff like that all the time when I was three years old. I didn't do things to be disobedient, I did things because I forgot I wasn't supposed to in my excitement over something else.
Why do you think almost every car manufacturer in the world has child safety locks on the back door of almost all their car models? There's a reason for it.

OK, after fruitless perusing of the owners manual I called MB and - THERE ARE NO CHILD GUARD LOCKS on th rear doors. I was, frankly, surprised. But then maybe German children always sit at attention in the rear seats and don't have these issues......
