'05 Delivered Yesterday - Noob Still Grinning
Bought an '05 Pewter/Charcoal E55 yesterday and I feel like it's Xmas in August! After driving both an '03 and an '04 over the last few weeks I developed a serious itch for this car and now it's finally been scratched. I've got to thank my very understanding wife. Bought her an '04 LS430 as an anniversary present in February, but she decided she preferred driving our '04 Acura MDX. Her words: "Give me the Acura, you trade in the Lexus and get something you really want".
I'm having the black birdseye wood/perforated leather wheel installed next week and plan on spending quality time considering go-fast possibilites. <rubbing hands together in anticipation>
I've been in lurk mode for the past few weeks, but look forward to actively exchanging info with this knowledgeable group!

Used to be on some Bimmer boards back when I had my '95 540i M-Sport (one of the 200 BMW Individual E-34's that were essentially M5's with the 4-liter V8). Quite a cult car - sold it last year . Thank goodness the EDC shocks never needed replacement ($2500 each).
Regarding the steering wheel, I'm getting it at Atlanta Classic Cars in Duluth, GA, where I bought the car. Price is $1895 installed, IIRC. It's a sweet piece!

I traded in an '04 M3 for the E55... and like it was said, there is no comparison. The E55 does not handle like the M3, of course, but we're talking about a 2 ton luxury sedan that can run down a C5 Corvette with relative ease, and will pace a Z06 on the straightaways.
The M3 is an absolutely wonderful car, but the E55 is in a different league when it comes to the overall package... that's maybe why it costs nearly double
