Caution to VRP 3” Intake Kit Users
For those of you running the VRP 3” Intake kit or kits similar to it I have a word of caution.
I have been fighting a supercharger cutoff issue for weeks now and could not figure out the issue.
The code I kept receiving was P207C ( Supercharger ) , Mechanical fault (P0660).
I would get this code when running WOT and the car would just fall on its face like in my video:
After hunting for issues, replacing nearly $1000 in parts I found the issue and it was such a simple fix…
The VRP intake kit has a silicone tube at the end where it meets up with the radiator air inlet. Unfortunately it is not very high quality and it is very flimsy.
Under high boost/WOT the little silicone tube would squeeze shut/collapse on itself starving the engine of air.
As GinSistiller put it in my other thread “The mechanical fault makes so much sense now. 'mechanical fault' being that the rpm the supercharger was at should have produced a lot more boost, it didn't, so the ECU figured it was seizing up or something.”
Once I removed the last section of silicone from the intake kit the car ran like a champ again. No more mechanical fault and I can finally get more than 10lbs of boost.
I’ve reached out to VRP to see if they have a solution for the issue, either stiffer silicone tube at the end or some sort of metal sleave that can help keep the silicone tube open.
If they don’t have a solution I’ll probably find a small metal tube to fit into the end and keep the silicone tube open.

This place is a joke.
Often times the stock oem parts should be left on the car. That is why the oem intake y-pipe has metal rings inside the rubber boots. The oem intake performs fine, and looks better.

I just love the fact you can hear the SC charger whine from the aftermarket intake.

I was having the same issue with mine not too long ago but not to the extent where the ESP message would show. What I ended up doing was placing a 3" to 4" coupler, like the one that connects to the filter housing, at the end of the elbow intake pipe where the tube would have gone. That eliminated the problem. There's a small gap between the radiator channel and the coupler but I haven't noticed an increase in IAT.

But of course it wasn't the tune thankfully. I tried quite a bit to figure out what the actual issue was before I found the issue with the silicone inlet tubes.

Funny how these people are always in here peddling their goods, but not to address an issue like this. Sounds like the intake or filters are pretty restrictive to collapse that hose, even if it is crappy

isn't the coupling they are talking about in front of the filters¿ This would indicate to me the filters are flowing fine. It's the coupling that attaches to the car near the radiator that is collapsing under the vacuum the filters are passing through from the supercharger gulping down the air.
I would have thought the problem would be the Y pipe post air filter collapsing if the air filters were unable to keep up with the superchargers appetite for air. But im no expert!
I do agree that it's bad look they can't take a moment from spam bumping all their separate part threads and washing out the forum to address issues with their products like this. Especially when there is a vendor section specifically for that kind of behavior that we can ignore..

They are a known scam reseller
I as well as others have had unanswered issues with their products. Thank god it was a 250 dollar product for me and not only of their sham engine builds. I would hate to see the support from that bolt on mess. As a former 211amg owner, your cars deserve better (so I can buy again in the future.
hopefully no damage was done starving the engine so many times. I hate throwing codes as it usually means something is very unhappy. Unhappy and wot often spells disaster.
Lots of other tested and supported products out there.
I wish this website would ban vendors that act like this but since we know money talks, they absolutely should be restricted to their own section, that we must select into view.
