E55 ESP fault fixed.

Just joined MBWorld so my first post. I'm from Sydney Australia.
The display suddenly displayed the fault below. Cruise control also vanished.
I connected my Icarsoft CRpro and steering live data showed turning to the left, normal reading. Turning to the right, >6000 degrees.
I suspected the steering wheel sensor but was unable to locate a replacement for my 2005 year model at FCP Euro. Anyway, ordered a clock spring and brake switch as preventative maintenance items.
I dismantled the steering column and the sensor from behind the clock spring.
The disc inside the sensor looked ok but I cleaned it anyway, installed the new clock spring and now all is well.
My first project on this terrific vehicle which I have only owned for a few months. Has 117k km.
The next fix will have to be the SBC fault. I believe there is a 25 year warranty extension in the US but will see what response I get here.
Looking forward to browsing and contributing to this Forum.

Hello equitiesguy. Yes, you're correct. This message only says it's unavailable. It's the only message. The fault is, when I press the brake pedal firmly to prevent rolling back, this message appears.
The function worked when I first took delivery of the vehicle.
