On Tuesday, I dropped off my car at MB of Alexandria, to get a full detailed service done. This is part of my routine, prior to the summer season.
The original price was $250, which they discounted to $200, and I added heavy compound buffing to remove those light scratches and swirl marks for an additional $40.
Two days later, the car looks perfect as black is a hard color to get rid of swirls marks. I think that I paid a good price, since Mercedes brings out a contractor to do this work.
What are some prices that you guys are seeing to do this service. Sorry, I didn't take any pics yesterday.
Well, this was an exterior wash, clay bar, compound buffing, wheel clean, tire dressing, recondition leather, windows, vacuuming, carpet shampoo and top of the engine clean.
And I might have left out something. Regardless, I think I got a good deal on this. As it took them 1.5 days and the car looked outstanding. Bottom line is I think I got my moneys worth, and that is all that matters to me.

That sounds like a great deal and for that cost too! There used to be mobile guys in my area that would come over and detail my cars, but I haven't done that in a while. You going to post some pics or what?
Yes, I need to take some close ups out in the sun. My paint wasn't too bad before, but after winter ended up with more swirls and lite scratches. So the paint definitely needed some attention.
Funny thing is that, I contacted BMW and they also contract out this work, and was quoted $300 for the same service for the X5M. I'm trying to work out a military discount. As the X5M is in need as well.
I let the professional do the hard work, and I then just maintain it from there.
That price for 1.5 days of work is unheard of. Nice deal!
I don’t know if they were backed up, or how many cars they had to do.🤔 But they did say that the heavy compound buffing took a long time, as a black car is harder to perfect. 😁
I took these photos this morning, keep in mind that the pollen is bad here in Northern VA. I took a view close ups so you could see the lack of swirls or scratch marks.
The leather is subtle, and matte just the way I like it. They did a nice job.
That's a pretty phenomenal price for that much work. I wonder if most dealers do something like this, or if you got a discount from being a loyal customer.
I get a small discount from my parts guy at the local dealership, mostly because I'm friendly and I buy a lot of parts lol. I'm going to ask about this service at my dealer, but I'd be shocked if it's not $500 or more.

This had to be a one time special. But the only advertised discount was the price was reduced from $250 to $200.
In the past, I had detailing services done here and at another dealership and paid $250 for it. Now, it's time to show my X5M some love.
But, I have received discounts on parts, as I know people in the parts department.
I'd typically pay about $300 in the Bay Area for the same service you got minus the engine dressing. But I get may car detailed regularly, so $80 for a hand wash and wax about once a month on average. A California duster keeps me shining in between washes.
Well damn! Do you service you own cars? You have quite a few! And plus, lots of great heavy metal comes from Sweden!
yes and yes, I do all my work myself. Anything else would be insane. Once you build relationships with the dealers it's pretty easy to get around 10-20 % discount on parts and most parts I buy directly from Germany so I think I'm getting around service and repairs pretty cheap.
But non car people are paying high prices. An oil change + a look over of a normal c class cost somewhere around the equivalent of 4-500 USD at the dealer. Indy maybe 300.
I don't remember to many quotes since it's a long time ago but diagnostic usually goes for around 100 USD, a wheel bearing replacement should be around 500. When my airmatic went down under warranty I was quoted 7500 USD for front struts, rear bags, compressor and labor.
I used to live very close to the drummer of Hammerfall. Another time close to a Swedish pornstar, unfortunately of male gender.
