2005 E55 AMG, 2007 E550, 83 380SL and Many Jaguars
E55 AMG *NEEDS TRANSMISSION* Questions.....
I recently purchased a 2005 E55 AMG with in need of a transmission. 138k Miles. 223,000kms.
I mostly own and Drive Jags, and before anyone comments I love my XJR.....
I am looking at a used transmission for $400.00. Yes cheap I believe it's worth a gamble. The guys claimed he bought and never ended up fitting.
My questions is. Say the transmission is fine.
1. What would it cost to remove the old and install the new one. Anything I need to know? Any extra bits? Total time?
2. Or, if this needs a rebuild what would it cost to rebuild this one. Here is pictures of what I am buying.
722.6 transmissions come in a variety of flavors designed to fit anything from a low torque motor of a couple of hundred foot-lbs up to the W211 E55 AMG with prodigious amounts of torque (>500 ft-lbs). Primary difference is the amount of friction and steel plates in the clutch packs. Not the only difference but you should get the idea.
For instance, my VIN shows North America, 211.076 model version and was delivered 10 March 2005. Key info is:
Mercedes-Benz E 211.076
E SEDAN
211.076 => E 55 AMG M: 113990 GA: 722643
So, you should be looking for a 722.643 transmission (GA). Confirm that is the potential replacement transmission first. By now you should have noted your motor is the M113.990.

Super easy to swap the trans in that car, but as stated above, make sure you are getting the correct model 722.6, as there are many different ones. A weak spec from a V6 car will not hold up to the power of even a stock M113k engine.
