E55 Vs M5 Dinan

I was on Jamboree today and noticed a M5 as I passed it. I slowed and waited. I gave the guy 3 tries to get me but no chance. I had traction control off and hit it off the line slow the pressed it to floor. I had slight wheel spinn "Just perfect" in first and that was it each time he hit 2nd gear he shut down I was 2 out and pulling hard.

I was shaking at first because I thought I had met my match on the street.

SO Kain can, well lets say anytime any where. am ready for any BM trouble U

I am stoked. I got home and did a turbo mod to the Diesel and then raced a 2000 C5 6 speed and was 5 cars out from 0-80mph. Truck puts down 450hp and 820lbs of torque. I also beat a Subaru Sti 0-100 in the truck.

Do you guys think the new M5 has got any thing for us? With pulley and ECU the E55 is un touchable on the street. there may be better Drag slips but not on the street.

If the vehicle is Dinan...and it's a true Dinan...the E55 AMG won't have a chance...

True built Dinans are amazing vehicles.

There are three levels of Dinan M5's. The S-M5 and S1-M5 ( 402 @ 6500 rpm/ 375 lb/ft @ 4500 rpm ) and the S2-M5 ( 470 @ 6900 rpm / 419 lb/ft @ 5000 rpm ) .

Dinan now has some hot cams that can be added to the S2 package that will produce 481 @ 7000 rpm, with 419 lb/ft torque available at 5000 rpm.

2001 BMW M5
The E39 M5 has almost no shot against a modded W211 E55 unless you start talking forced induction on the S62 engine. The M5 was designed as a more all around vehicle compared to the extreme straight line performance that the E55 provides.

The new M5 should be able to beat the E55, but not if you start modding the E55 a bit. The V10 is a monster, but it will not compete with the E55 until it gets some speed under its belt due to the low torque numbers (I cannot beleive we are saying 379lb ft is low). It will be interesting to see how the V10 responds to aftermarket tuners.

The Dinan badge is very misleading. There are several levels of Dinan and some are "***** out" and some are just your basic bolt ons (speaking of 540i). The basic bolt ons don't really give you much power yet you can still achieve a Dinan badge.

The other day I was on the freeway and I spot an E46 M3 with Dinan badge, I knew I was going to beat him but didn't expect to "destroy" him that bad.

In terms of Dinan M5, I'm not quite sure what it consists of since I've been out of the loop since I got rid of my Dinan 540i a while back. I find most, if not all, M5 owners to be very "tasteful" in nature with their vehicles and quite frankly, I've never EVER met a M5 owner that wasn't as down to earth as they come (hope they feel the same about us AMG owners) As for Stock W211 E55 vs Dinan M5, I don't doubt the E55 beating it but I would assume it would be a close race. The E60 M5 would, IMO be a different story but a "stage 1" E55 should be able to hang with it or maybe even edge it out. Although I'm not crazy about the looks and ergonomics of the E60, I can overlook all of that and anxiously wait a fine machine to reach our shores...I just love cars.

So even if it was the best Dinan out there the E55 would still take it. With mods we are 465+ rwhp and 550 hp at crank so there.

OR

Maybe he had an SMG trans and did not want to waste one of his 10 launch controls. BMW bits *****. I will never never ever even think of owning one.

Nope. The 65 is a waste of money. Mercedes priced it out of the ball park. For 180k+ I'd look at several other cars first.

There is no doubt that you beat a Dinan M5 in your stock form as it isn't surprising to me. I have Renntech Stage1 and belive me, I'm confident I can take on the Dinan M5 and comfortably beat it on a straight line acceleration race.

I don't think the E39s had SMG as an option.

Today, we hit low 60s and my car just felt like a new "BEAST"...the colder air makes the car seem more responsive. I had my brother in the car for the firt time and first thing he said was "this car has a lot more torque than your RS6 and highway speed seem much faster as well". Although I'm convinced that a stock E55 will beat a modded RS6 (no downpipes assumed), I'm still not sure my Stage 1 will take a E60 M5 since NO ONE seems to be able to produce any figures, even then, figures really don't mean much in the real world IMO...I've seen Vettes getting beat up by WRX non STis.

Draggingcents2, we have one heck of a Speedway up here in Vegas so if you ever plan on coming up here let me know. Maybe we can setup an AMG meet at the Las Vegas Speedway and make a weekend getaway of it.

Yup! E39's NEVER had a factory SMG option. As for the vette, I've also seen plenty of Honda hatchbacks whooping their ***.

WRXs are hard to beat on the streets, especially when they are modded, but if ya talking about highway pulls, then they are relatively easy to get compared to some big power RWD cars

I live in Orange California very close to villa Park area, Kattela and Cannon.

My dad lives in Las Vages and is getting his new ford GT next week. Maybe when I drive to see the new ford we can all set up a day at the speedway????
I will talk to dad today to see his deliver date again. I hope he has time to break car in before then. but if not it is under ford warrenty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway that is also why I am getting my Stage 2 Renntech and LSD this week so I can keep up wityh the old man. the GT run 11.2 at 133 MPH Stock.

Please also remember that the race with the Vette and Sti were in my 2004 Excurion diesel. What do they weigh? 9000lbs? I talso has 35" tire and 5" lift and it is a 4X4.

For those of you wandering what a Dinan M5 will do--The 470 HP version was tested by either R&D last year or C&D(don't remember which) and the best #'s they could muster was a 1/4 mi. time of 12.75@112.7mph so a stock E55 will walk away from a Dinan M5 all day long!! Still a nice upgrade for an E39 M5 though!

I live in Yorba Linda, CA. Where are you getting your Renntech Upgrade? I might consider the LSD upgrade because there really wouldn't be any additional stress on the engine and it won't probably break the warranty either.

I believe you are going to need more than just the Stage 2 Renntech and LSD to keep with the Ford GT (i.e., Evosport headers). Should check to see if any other AMG 55 owners would interested in coming up to Vegas.

But you won't run 11.2 @133mph "STOCK" on california speedway. Expect to run some good 12's

I know I will not run 11.2 but need to be a 11.9-12.2 to hold with my Dad. The GT will rip 11.2 all day and with tire maybe 10.9 and it is very easy to launch and shift. Compared to Enzo, Carrara GT

I also have an office in the Savi Ranch area. I know exactly where your office is located. We were thinking about moving there, but I am now looking towards Imperial and Saturn by Suzuki Headquarters.

Do you have the LSD installed on your car? I noticed in the hot weather over the past few weeks, the E55 feels a bit sluggish. But now that it has cooled down now, the beast is back.
