E65 AMG and CLK65 AMG are coming....
The latest issue of The Star magazine by Mercedes Benz Club of America, P. 114, stated the future arrival of the E65 and CLK65. This is what the article said:" Although the current CL65 AMG, S65 AMG, and SL65 AMG use a turbocharged V-12, the smaller lighter E65 AMG and CLK65 AMG, seen here during Death Valley testing, are expected to use a more compact, supercharged V-8 of about 475 hp. I think it time to start saving for the next AMG

A V8 with the same dislacement as a V12 can be more compact than the V12 because it has fewer cylinders. The engine in my E430 can be bored out to the same displacement as the V12 and it will be smaller in size.
It surprises me that an E65 would only have 6 more hp than an E55. How would they justify the price?

I sure hope the E65 comes out the same month as the M5s...wouldn't that just spoil the E60? Lol.
Remember when Subrau kept hush hush on its 2.5L WRX STi when the EVO came out with only a 2.0L?

The cars testing could actually be the big bore, 6.3 V8's with 7g Tronic. I know that AMG prepares its cars and engines, several years before release. The 65 engine for example started development back in 2001, the 55K in 1999. These models could be the 63's in hot weather trials.

MB marketing brainy tricks - so they can sell at higher price - or sell it at the same price as thye E55 to nmake you think you get a newer and higher model. The same 'trick' they come up a C55 after C32 , and that is before the C W203 fade away.
The 65 coming would also mean W211 is facing a major facelift
The E320 will be E350 (launch in Oct04).!
The E500 will be E550 ( I make this up ).
And all higher end Es will be with the 7 Speed tranny.

quoted article saysthe " SMALLER LIGHTER E65 AMG and CLK65 AMG," before it says " seen here during Death Valley testing, are expected to use a more compact, supercharged V-8 of about 475 hp."
Isnt SLR fast not only because of its engine but also because its small and LiGHT?

So that would mean the next CLK65 AMG will be faster than the E65? Considering the fact that the CLK is lighter than the W211

The curb weights that's been floating around website specs is anywhere from 1587kg to 1724kg. So add about another 70kg for the driver. It's not EXACTLY a light car for it's so called SMALL size.
But then again, luxury kills performance
I'd prefer a V8 with a bigger displacement, rather than a "TINY" displacement v10 that sounds like a honda
