EVC Throttle Controller

Has anyone had any experience with the EVC Throttle Controller? Wondering if it’s worth it?

I find the throttle response to be quite good (stock). Not sure why you'd want to add some module but then I'm looking at your mods list....maybe you just need a better tune.

I have a similar unit, but have since turned it off. They make the throttle very sensitive, mine has eco, performance, and race modes, and I never went above a few clicks in eco because the rest of the settings are very extreme for daily driving.

I would highly recommend spending that same amount of money on zerocat's tuned tcu. Having 'A' mode available, shifting quicker and more in the powerband satisfies the need for more aggressive pedal response IMO.

Absolute waste of money. If you want more response provide more throttle input, take the car out of comfort, or both.

All these boxes do is amplify the signal being sent from the gas pedal. The majority of claims on this product are absolutely bogus.

All they're doing is making the first 30-50% of the throttle produce more output, so you'll hit 100% output at 60% of pedal input, if not sooner.

You cannot make the throttle open any faster to "eliminate throttle lag" with a device that lives between the pedal and the ECU.
You could similarly increase throttle response if you provide it with more input. Doing this costs nothing.
I don't see how this makes the car any more driveable over swapping between comfort/sport modes.

This, and all throttle controllers are snake oil.

I also had zerocat (mkultra?) tcu installed in my SL, and that agility mode is a hoot.

A friend of mine bought a 2007 E63 Brand new. We all drove the car and our only complaint was when you mash the pedal, it took a bit of time for the car to realize that. So it had lag. He bought a sprint booster and it made the car much more enjoyable. the lag was completely gone. I also put one on my Ram 2500 6.7 diesel. It also made a very nice improvement. For a couple hundred dollars, I think it is worth it. But that is just my 2 cents.

I have not used this brand of throttle controller, but the principals are the same as the Pedal Box or any other controller as far as I can tell. And YES, they do make a huge difference in how your car "feels" when driving around town. If, like me, your main complaint is that the pedal needs "too much" at low throttle conditions, this will allow you to tune it so that a little pedal input gives more TB opening than stock.

I actually get to play around with this mapping in my CLK because I have a Holley Dominator on it, which gives me direct access to the mapping table. I can assure you it makes a BIG difference in drivability when you start raising the slope of the lower-left part of the curve, which is what these boxes do.

On a bone stock E55 I find the throttle mapping to be quite aggressive (caveat: my car may have an old EC tune but I am unable to verify this - it is stock otherwise). Maybe not as aggressive as some very late model high-po stuff, but in an absolute sense, I can't see how anyone would find it deficient. Are people driving late model AMG stuff or whatever and just want their older AMG to "feel more like that?" I think that's dumb and that ALL throttles should be linear in response (and drivability can be highly tuned via transmission programming) but nobody asked for my opinion.

our M156 tunes correctly map the throttle pedal 1 to 1 to match with the throttle body movement.

we don't currently tune the M113k, but i would think a proper tune for the M113k would do the same effectively making these throttle boosters essentially useless.

curious if you know how MB's dynamic select works with a throttle tuner? does the throttle tuner completely override that part of dynamic select? does it add on to it?
