Oil for CLS55?

Hello everyone. Posting here because the c219 forum is never active. I upgraded from my 2007 E550 to a 2006 CLS55 with 55,000 miles about 3 weeks ago. ****ing love the car. I always used 5w-30 or 40 in my E550 but what oil viscosity should I use in my CLS55?

What's your driving profile? What's the ambient temperature where you live and do you drive it all season?

I’ve been cruising at 60mph most of the time so far on the highway and been driving it very, very gently. Have only done maybe 2 or 3 pulls on the highway. Haven’t had the chance to push the car hard since the weather here has been so ****ty since I bought it. Starting to get warmer so roughly 60 degrees now, and yes I drove the **** out of my E550 and plan to daily drive this as well.

I also have an 06 CLS55 and run LiquiMoly Molygen 5w-40. I do an engine flush every 4th or 5th oil change. Always run a fleece filter like MANN. Don't forget the (2) drain plugs.

If you're planning on driving the car in the winter, Mobil 1 0W-40 for a little extra protection on startup. One of the best oils ever made.

If not, you can pick any reputable 5W-40 out there. I ran Liqui Moly Leichtlauf on my S55.

Mobil 1 5W-40. It's the AMG recommended oil for a reason; I personally would not feel comfortable putting in anything other than what AMG folks believe should go into a hand-built motor. Currently at 44K miles and has been the only oil used since new. It is the only oil that gets put in my car. Works perfectly in the winter months as well - this is my daily.

It was the recommded oil back in 2003 for factory tolerance engines. Mercedes now doesn't use mobil1 anymore and the mobil1 oil from 20 years isn't the same formula it is now.

In Germany me and most people I know with modified M113 use Motul 5w50. I'll be switching to Motul V300 10w60 this season, because I garage park the car and only drive with good weather.
