Hi all, wanted to get your impressions of the stereo system on your 211's. I have the bass cranked up and treble somewhere in the center, and it just doesnt hit very well. Has anyone upgraded their systems at all? I am considering 500 watts and two 12's in the trunk with Sirius radio. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Unless you are out to set a record or break some stuff..I would just run a single 12 or even a good high quality 10. That will save you a ton of trunk space and still get the job done. I have a single Kicker L7 10 in my trunk with a kicker KX600.1 amplifier (rated at 600 watts, the certificate with the amp says 725...whatever) and it does the job really well. I actually keep the gain turned down a bit becuase stuff inside the car was rattling. I still have over half of my original trunk space.

Thanks for your response, do you have a photo of the install? Dont want to break anything, just love the down low deep bass. I saw some photos of their installs and I would still end up with most of the trunk space, which is huge to begin with.

Yes, the bass is pretty weak in the W211. Here's what I did in my E500.

The JL sub enclosure was a wedge shaped back, so it sits flush to the rear of the back seat, thus doesn't take up much of the trunk space.

Wow, thanks for the pics. To say that it sounds good would be an understatement? Looks very compact, are you happy with it?

I am very happy with the sound. Bass is very deep and strong. The only problem I have is that the sub will slide around during hard cornering. I haven't figured out a way to secure the sub that is easily undone (car is on a lease).

Velcro the back of the sub enclosure to the back of the seats. That will keep it from sliding around and is easy to remove when you get rid of the car.

where can you buy large/wide strips of velcro?

And how do you stick the velcro to the sub - staple it?

Hey Kyee, I'm thinking about adding a sub and a 12 as well. Can you point out or take a pic of where and which wire they tapped into for the line output converter and for the 12volt remote turn-on for the amp? I plan on doing my own installation, just scared that I might tapped into the wrong wires.

You can get large strips of velcro at sewing supply stores or some hobby stores. Also some furniture stores use them to keep couch cushions from sliding around. I would just staple or glue them to the back of the bass enclosure.

You can pickup some long velcro strips at Home Depot.

By the way there is a whole section in this forum devoted to audio questions. It's a wealth of knowledge.

First of all, I like the stock system...but I am planning to overhaul it...I'll just leave it at that and show pics of the completed project.

However, I am interested in getting this bass processor:

http://www.wavescaraudio.com/

but for my future front midbass MB Quarts. I have not heard it or seen anyone with this processor, but I'm going to take a chance on it...The reason I am bringing this up is that it may be an option for someone who wants to improve bass sound quality without adding a speaker box in the trunk.

I'll post my experiences with this bass processor in the future.
