So, you can purchase it cheaper. I would call multiple dealers in your area and if close an adjacent state. Since, I live in Northern VA, I have not only Virginia, but Maryland and DC.
And if I was really desperate West Virginia, and Delaware. Do you happen to know anyone in the dealership, that could give you an employee discount?
It's always good to know people at Mercedes, just for this very reason.

Scumbag Steve strikes again.
I have to say, am I appalled to spend $350 for a key with NO other options? Sure. However, the process was easy via my dealer's parts counter, the key worked out of the box, and, well, the car is worth it (I would admittedly be a lot more pissed if it was some random E320 but it's not). Not only that but I was informed that you don't really want to have only one key. This was my first Euro car of any kind. Did I stomp my foot and swear off MB forever? No. I paid. And you're talking to someone who has never had a car payment, ever, and does all my own work. I'm cheap. That said, I don't think I would have accepted $700. And you shouldn't have to pay that, either.
Sadly, I have never used the key and the car is totaled but that's another story for another time (thread).
