Rear SAM 2006 E55
I replaced the rear SAM and everything seems to work fine - car starts, all lights work, no messages or errors on the dash. FCP Euro says the SAM needed to be programed when installed, but I don't seem to find any issues. Can anyone advise if a reprogramming is absolutely necessary? The SAM was replaced because my son jump started the car but had the cables crossed on the battery terminals.
thank you

It was a new SAM in a new Mercedes box, guess I'll go to my local indy shop to code it. Thank you for your reply.
BTW, will they need the old SAM or can coding be done from the VIN? The dealer wants the old one returned for a core is why I ask.
thanks again

I had my rear SAM on my cls55 replaced a couple years ago and I had read that it hasd to be programmed since it was tied into the vehicle security system. When mine had some water intrusion damage the car alarm was going off and I could not unlock the car but I managed to get my trunk manually open to disconnect the battery.
