Car and Driver Goof

Has anyone seen the Nov Car and Driver. What a laugh. Their lead article is a "slugfest" featuring 16 "supercars". Only they left out the stock vehicle which would smoke about half the field without aftermarket tuning, our one and only E55.

Was I p/o'd when they stuck a Rennetech CL55 in the competition instead of the lighter weight E55. Not that the CL55 is a slouch but it needs to go on a diet before it runs hot laps. Think I'll write a letter to the editor of C and D.

I was thinking the same thing...I was looking at the 1/4 times and all I could think of is that our cars could beat some of those times STOCK...go figure...but did you see their info box on disengaging ESP completely?

I guess our E55 isn't EXOTIC enough...

How come it seems no one can ever read the lead-in article?

My point was that they may not have "invited" a stock E55 much less a tuner version.

Sorry I didn't mean you... I meant the other response that talked about the times.

BTW, I think the W211 E 55, at OVER 4000lbs, ain't no lightweight. You can add a passenger to an E 55 and come up at about the same weight as CL 55.*

*(Source: mbusa.com, E 55 curb weight 4087lbs, CL 55 curb weight 4255lbs.)

Heck, if you believe the 24hp difference between the cars, then the CL55 has a more advantageous weight/hp ratio. And this is just the stock car.

Oh well, I guess I just don't see it...
