Supercharger Oil - Replace or keep for life per AMG?

I tried to see if this has been discussed but didn't answer my questions.

Has anyone replaced the blower's oil? Or anything else inside the blower? I can't find anything that says we need to - in fact, AMG says it's lubed for life or something along those lines. I'm just hesitant to keep the same oil in there for the life of the car.

What oil did you use? Is it DIY? Is it necessary?

Please school me.

I think this has been covered quite a bit, here and on YouTube. I don't believe any oil lasts forever. I changed mine over a year ago at around 130k miles. It is a little bit of a pain to do, but really no reason not to if done correctly. You can buy an inexpensive kit to do it such as https://www.fabtech-performance.com/...er-service-kit

I bought a full quart of oil and only used the 150ml. I am sure I'll never need the remainder. The kit is an easier way to go.

A good video can be found at:

I changed mine a while back, easy job if you follow the video. It needs to be changed, Jet II aviation oil.

I ordered the blower oil here.

This also shows why you should not overfill

I used video but I didn't use the wire inside the hose.

I used the wire, but you have to be careful it doesn't break off and fall into the housing. It seemed to help in getting the maximum amount of oil removed from the case for me.

The original video didn't show a wire and I wouldn't have used it for fear of it getting dislodged/lost in the blower. If that would happen the blower would have to come out and apart to get the wire out. I'm all about limiting and mitigating my chances for problems!

I changed my oil out around at 50k. I followed AMG MEISTER procedure and it worked well and I did use the wire in the hose trick. The original oil was pretty dark. I used Molbil's 387 oil. See the link below as it compares Jet II, 285, and 387 oils. The 387 is the latest iteration of turbine oil.

When you see what comes out, you’d be silly not to. Lifetime is certainly a relative term. It definitely will last as long as the fluid does, and fail when the fluid fails.

“Life time fluid.”

I always reply with “How long of life do you want it to live?”

I pulled the supercharger to change it. Easy enough to do and a good excuse to see the rest of the gaskets and make sure that all is well.

SC oil stinks to high heavens. Don’t get it on you.

100% replace using Mobil Jet II (you can order it from an aviation supply store).

I serviced the SC on my former M113K car (55K miles) and on a few friends' M113K cars (80-120K miles).

Oil came out black every time and took a few rounds of extract & fill to get it clean.

I used long reach industrial syringes (you need to bend it at a few points to reach the sump) and measured each extraction in order to replace the exact amount.

OK my friend listen to me carefully LOL
Your old oil that you will drain out WILL stink like you can't believe....it's nasty !!!
MAKE SURE you have rubber gloves on or you will be smelling it on you for quite some time.
Dispose of the oil right away and try not to spill any.

Thanks for the heads up but dang that bad? Does it smell as bad and/or persistent as a skunk spray?

I used the wire but I also had the s/c off. Biggest fear id have is dropping grub screw with s/c still attached to car. It really wasn't too bad to take it off but I get it. Amazon 150ML syringe and it came with attachment and tube. Mechanics wire worked great. It does indeed smell funny 😅

ah glad it worked out well, you were able to lessen the impact of the smell right?

It really wasnt that overwhelming. Large space and air movement and just put it in something and you will be good.
