12.07 @ 116.85 Bone Stock!!!

I took the E to Englishtown today for the first time. My first run, with ESP on, stock tire pressure, stock EVERYTHING, netted me a 12.432 @ 116.84. I was very happy with it, considering that I eased into the throttle and was at about 1,200 rpm at the launch. My 60 foot time was a slow 2.145 sec., so I knew there was more to be had.

Got greedy on the second run, ran without ESP and launched hard. Had a better 60 foot time of 2.065 sec., but spun thereafter and had to get out of the throttle. Still finished with a 12.672 at 116.23 mph.

Lined up again, tire pressure now at 25 lbs, ESP on. Nailed the launch and pulled a 1.881 60 ft. time. Crossed the line at 12.071 @ 116.85. All my vette friends were amazed, especially when I told them that it just weighed in at 4340 lbs. on the scale.

Here are the increments:

R/T: .202
60': 1.881
330': 5.149
1/8: 7.828 @ 90.65
1000': 10.137
1/4: 12.071 @ 116.85

Amazing figures for bone stock! Were you running the oem Conti's? How many miles on the car?

Sea level E-town can be great when it's prepped properly and a bear to deal with when it's not. Sounds like conditions were great today!

His breakdowns are very close to my bone stock times at MIR:

60'- 1.842
330'-5.141
1/8-7.848@90.47
1000-10.188
1/4-12.147@115.50

I run with the ESP on and brake torque slightly for the decent 60' on this run. My tire pressure was also at 25psi. Initial hit of the accelerator to about halfway for the launch then roll the accelerator to wide open. I consider E-town and MIR to be "fast tracks" as they are both near sea level and always seem to net the fastest 1/4 mile times. I have run many cars at MIR and my e.t.'s are consistently faster there than my local tracks. Good runs BTW.

My E55 weighs 4220 without driver. I don't know if his weight above includes the driver.

Stephen - I think it was a post on this forum from a few weeks back that caused me to lower my tire pressure to 25.

Generally, I don't care for Englishtown. The track isn't prepped well for days when only muffled vehicles can run. And on Sundays when it is generally in great shape because all the big boys come out to play, you get one run every two to three hours because of crowds and cars dying on the track.

But I have to say that it seemed pretty well prepped yesterday for a change.

Thanks.

I weighed the car on the track scale with me in it. 4340 lbs. I weigh about 155 - 160, and the car had an eighth of a tank or less of fuel. Still pretty heavy. Especially considering that my Z06 and I used to weigh in at more than one thousand pounds less.

As for the launch on my best run, I applied some throttle against the brakes at the tree. Just enough to feel the car load a little bit. Maybe 1,500 rpm. Then I popped my foot off of the brake at the last yellow and rolled into the gas simultaneously. I didn't stomp it, but I was pretty aggressive in getting to WOT. Felt a little wheelspin but not very much. I had a decent burnout before I staged, so that probably helped. But then again, people disagree on whether a burnout does anything to help grab with regular radial tires.

That's good news as I seem to remember that's about the speed and time most magazines have been posting which means no "ringers" were used for the magazine tests.

Wow, congrats! That's a SICK mph!!

What was the trackside temperature?

I have cut a 1.87 60' by turning the ESP off. I have not been able to get a good launch with the ESP on.

I have not seen an W211 trap that high bone stock before... the only other guy was DerekFSU with his '05. That's significantly higher than I have seen, wonder if there were any changes made for '05?

It was about 55 degrees on Saturday. I read somewhere that the DA was + 300.

Absolutely KILLER run! Just goes to show that with the right conditions and driver, the E55 is capable of running times that would scare 911TT's and Vipers.

You aren't kidding. Yesterday, I scanned down the Motor Trend stats for cars sold in the US. And I know magazines can't really be trusted as the sole authority on 1/4 mile times. But I was surprised to see that I could run with lots of the big boys.
