Anyone have a strut bar in their w211 E63?

Looking for a strut bar for the w211 E63. Ultra racing only makes it for the e55 and won’t verify if it fits over the m156 and Megan Racing makes a non airmatic version for the w211. Anyone know where to find a bar that works for a e63?

Strut tower braces came about to address the impact of Macpherson Strut design of the front suspension. The E-class is not a Macpherson Strut design so a strut tower brace does little to no benefit.

I see, makes sense since the Clk63 black series isn’t on air and has a strut bar. Was hoping there was someone who had tried this on our cars before to see any benefits.

annoyingly Ultra Racing is unable to validate that any of the W211 bars fit the E63. otherwise i'd own all of them.

Right! I asked if I can verify it and that if it doesn’t fit can I return it or at least get some compensation back for test fitting it. They told me no and to order at my own risk. Also told me the items are built to order in Malaysia….

Have you considered making your own strut tower brace?

I have been looking for someone local by me to do one. But it’s either 2 cases. 1) They are a really good/busy fab shop and don’t have time to make 1 strut bar for me or 2) they want over $2k for a custom strut bar

that’s the EU site not the USA site. I confirmed with them via email that they do not make one for the w211 e63.

Yea it’s odd, probably just sloppy website management. I am thinking of just biting the bullet and test fitting the e55 strut bar. Unless a fab shop near me gives me a reasonable quote.

I made my own set up for my E55.
A few things to remember as far as the bar doing nothing.
First I bought a couple Ultra bars and they were very "flimsy" for my liking.
Second as far as the bar doing nothing I can tell you with 100% that if the bar is off the car and I have it on jack stands or one side lifted I can not get the bar bolts back in do to the flex and need to have the car flat on the ground. Under the car I made a custom support that goes from the transmission crossmember to the from frame as well.

i'm not 100% certain but now looking at this photo it looks like the bar on your car will not clear the M156 engine.

but...thoughts to building bars and selling them?

Would be interesting to see that to see how you made it.

Solid bar and nice engine bay as well. I’m going to try a shop a little more further from me as I am close to the city and therefore people tend to charge more for simple jobs. Photos are great reference to give the fab guy to make his life easier.

Thanks. Yea would love to build for other people but I just get an idea in my head and just put it togather and that's it. Even when I fabbed up the intake as well.

So I can confirm the ultra racing bar fits a w211 e63….shorta. The bar was a pain to mount up as you really need two people to press down on either ends while tightening the nuts. But I got it to mount, the only issue is the clearance. On a Clk63 black series the strut bar is slightly bent and now I realize why. It’s very close to the inner ends of the airbox, I can fit maybe 3-4 pieces of paper before it gets jammed in between the box and bar. So I’m not sure what I can do as I can’t put spacer since the nuts on the strut itself is almost to the top because of how thick the strut bat bracing is. May have to just cut the center and bring it to a fab shop to bend up some metal and weld it to the endpoints.

What's going to happen is under hard acceleration, the carbon fiber air box will make contact with the strut brace. It's going to happen at some point. I have the carbonio carbon fiber engine cover and airboxes.
And I can just see in now, rubbing a hole thru them. But taken it to a fab shop would fix the issue, just ensure that you have enough clearance for the hood to close.

Sigh, I’ve been trying to avoid a fab shop. All the ones by me only work on their friends cars or have a 3 month waiting period with a non existent waiting list. And yea I don’t want these to make a whole in my carbon airboxes, that would be a real bummer.

Might also be fixed with lower engine mounts! VRP has 10mm lower mounts

https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/vrppoly/

VRP mentions that W211 E63 needs the same engine mounts as M113k platform

https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/vrp...engine-mounts/

**For W211 E63 and W209 CLK63 you need the M113/M113K version of these mounts

The ultra racing brace that really makes a nice difference is the one going from around where the transmission mount is to the front subframe.

Subframes on these cars move around too much especially under heavy braking.

The rest are just chassis stiffners.

They will fit any w211 or w219 car but as noted you will likely have the engine or airboxes rubbing on the upper strut brace. Mine started wearing through a letter of the amg on the plenum. I glued 10mm thick rubber under the bar. Obviously that wont work on m156. Eventually will get stiffer engine mounts.

That's the large 4-point brace, right? Any difficulty installing? I had been thinking of ordering that part for some time.

Nah very simple I think I spaced the engine underbody cover down 15mm with a rubber sway bar bush cut in half.
