i saw this RF remote, but its just a simple play/pause/stop remote.

what some home theater remotes do is send information to the products they control, and the products send info back so the user can see it on the
remote's screen.
The RF receiver plugs into the top of the ipod, where the headphone jack is. How do you wire the sound from the ipod into the aux jack in the glovebox? Does the RF receiver have a plug on top of it that isn't visible on the website?

Apple original remote in ash tray, powered iPod in center console, but may not work with the new center console?

I dont really know about the COMAND in the E class, but i think it would play, because in the SLK 55 COMAND unit it does, so probably and ofcoarse it will play on the E55...

So I went to 4 stores to find the RF remote controller for the ipod and finally found the Navipod at Harvey's Electronics for $55. Piece of crap. I broke it the first time I tried to close the glovebox as the audio plug female connector within the unit broke with the slightest of pressure. Putting that aside, the remote doesn't work through the glovebox cover. Useless. There has to be an easier way.

Umm, well, the Navipod is an IR remote, not an RF remote, so it shouldn't work through the glovebox cover. Which would make it useless for this application, as you have found out.

my co-worker mentioned this website www.densionusa.com

he said this is the company that first came out with the link (ice link) of the ipod with the BMW. I've yet to verify this tho.

the details of the ice>link Plus
http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.ph...407&Itemid=109

check out the section for Mercedes http://densionusa.com/merchant/merch...de=IA_Mercedes

they say it is a future product that will link using the fiber-optic method and may become available depending on demand. And demand is measured by how many people Add to the Waitlist.

it's quite a chunk of change tho!

But I believe what their device can do is allow the same controls that operate your CD changer to be used to control the iPod. I wonder can it display the song title/artist info on the COMAND or the dash display? THAT'd be SWEET!

I think we should all get on the waitlist so they will make that product!

Lesson learned the hard way. I can't get a response from the company that makes the RF remote. I sent an email and left a voice mail message to make sure that they are shipping. I am kind of nervouse placing an order on a non-secure website for their product. Has anyone else here recently purchased the Remote Remote?

The MBenzNL solution is $250, you can send your 2004 COMAND in and it gets upgraded.

I don't know if it's the same or different than the mbdoctor solution, but the explanation might be more understandable...

I have a RemoteRemote. Works great. The company is just really really swamped with all the orders. They will however, eventually get back to you. A very good product.

I have my 04 E55 upgraded the MP3 at dealer (in San Jose). It works great. I can select the song folders and files to play. But it doesn't work for the 6 disc changer. I don't need to use the Aux input now

Thanks for sharing Wayhin, was it a hardware or software upgrade?

mp3 folders

i have not tried the single disk feed in mine (2005), but the 6 disk changer plays mp3s for me. however, no matter how many folders i have, it always only sees the mp3 files. i cannot navigate between folders.

is the folder navigation something only for the single disk? or am i burning my mp3 disks the wrong way (just dragging and dropping mp3 files to Roxio and burning a disk).

let me know guys.
thanks,
Gareth
