Alarm siren won’t stop unless the battery is disconnected
Alarm siren won’t stop unless the battery is disconnected
I’m stumbled across an interesting one with my 2003 E55, my car alarm will sound as soon as I reconnect the battery and any number of locking or unlocking the car with the fob won’t help. You can actually start and drive the car but the siren will continue.
I’ve read about replacing the siren but is there something else to this?
Unfortunately I haven’t had the stomach to plug in my OBD reader yet because, you guessed it, I would have to sit there with the alarm going off.
Any ideas please?

I just replaced it on my CLS55, its a half hour job or so. its pretty expensive, I paid €145 euros. You can also just disconnect it and live without it

I've seen a number of different part numbers for it, I'm guessing it's the same unit across multiple MB cars. Anyone have the correct part number to hand?
In the meantime I have just unplugged it, at least now I can have the battery connected.
Thanks.
I phone MB (UK) today and they quoted £133 GBP for the siren, sadly it is on backorder in UK & Germany and they've been waiting for them for 6 months now. I'm reluctant to use a used part so may shop around to see if I can source it elsewhere.

@nd-photo.nl Did the stud versus bolt cause you any issues in the replacement? Just curious.
FWIW, I take lots of photos but you seem to be a much better photographer than I am...
No need to answer, but did you take professional training in photography?

@bbirdwell I just found a nut which fitted the stud and added a rubber ring in between (stud > rubber ring > nut) . Fitment is 100% the same apart from the stud vs bolt difference
I did follow a photography study haha, funny that you mention it! I had a portfolio website, but I shut it down a little while ago after I found it hard to start up a photography business. I tried for about 2-3 years before I made the decision to not pursuit that career. I still have some material online, see my Flickr account:
