I do not feel that I am toast if I race a 55 kompressor. I feel that I will be defeated if I race an E55 that consistently runs 12.0's. E430 Rocket and I had a long conversation, and we both agreed that the E55 is clearly the fastest of all of the 55K's. I would feel very confident lining up to a CL55 because it is comparable to my brother's Z06. I would also feel comfortable lining up with an S55 or an SL55. I just feel that the E55 would clearly beat the other 3 if it lines up next to them. With radials and intake, it would blow the doors off of them. SGC's car is not the car I claimed to beat, but I will still run him. I don't feel that if I lose to him, I should be called a liar just because I didn't beat a car that runs 12.0. By the way, it would be great if the Vette could come out because I really wanted to race one of those. I think we are going to do it thursday night. I will let you know once i talk to Benzo.

 

Is your E55 Stock? If it is, bring it out on Thursday night since this is what everyone wants to see me run for some reason. I'll run the Vette another night.

For what it's worth, your M5 looks HOT!!!! LeMans blue would have been my choice for the M5 as well, but the only reason I didn't buy the E39 M5 was only because it was "dated" by 2003. Good luck on thursday.

Not like it will do him any good...I've already posted instrumented road tests which show the SL55 and E55 within a tenth of one another here, and showed that both Mercedes' specs *and* Motor Trend's tests have the CL55 and the E55 running the same times. Obviously, science is not his major!

Seriously, though: this information has been provided to him on numerous occasions, and he knows bloody well that a stock CL55 is going to ream him just as good as a stock E55 will, but is just denying the truth for two reasons:

1) he knows the E55 will blow him into the middle of next week.;

2) no CL55 owner who frequents this forum is from Boca Raton, so he knows he's safe to make this claim, as none are likely to show up.

So, if he shows up and gets his *ss reamed by the E55, he'll simply claim either that your E55 is a factory freak, and that the CL55's are waay slower than the E55's, test data be damned. Because, you see, his opinion and the opinion of a guy who doesn't own a supercharged AMG carry more weight than actual instrumented road tests from Road & Track, Motor Trend, and the German car mag Auto Motor und Sport.

Auto Motor und Sport just tested the brand spanking new E60 M5. Here are the results of how it compares to the SL55, which APK keeps insisting is oh so much slower than the E55:

It's my understanding that APK wants to run an 03 CL55, not my E55. I will be there on Thursday, but has anyone stepped up with a CL55.

I wasn't planning on it, i was never one that said my C55 is faster then a M5, i never ran one before, i have no idea, i am not gonna lie and say i can beat one so i dont know what they can do. But, if everyone here wants, it looks like we can turn thursday night into a mini meet!

 

No, which imo is the only reason he keeps trying to cling to this fig leaf of the E55 being hugely faster...shoot, race him with one passenger on board, that way the weight will be the same! He's acting as though a few hundred pounds' difference turn the CL55 into some kind of slug or something...

DRCrowder, the E55 is the fastest 55K car from any speed to any speed....possibly 0-186mph, the SL55 is quicker due to its shorter gearing, but apart from that, the E55 is supreme....

1) Motor Trend tested the E55 and CL55 within 0.01 seconds of each other in the 1/4 mile;

2) Road & Track tested the E55 within 0.1 seconds of each other in the 1/4 mile;

3) Mercedes' performance specs for both cars are 0.1 apart.

Explain it, APK. You've been "feeling" this for some time, despite all evidence produced to show how wrong you are.

Drag Radials or no drag radials? Also, I will be checking for spray (n2o) since a lot of time has lapsed since my original challenge. I know the slight of hand drill. Been there before.

 

I was in college once, and he has been suspiciously "busy" for the last month or so, especially around the holidays...shoot, I had *plenty* of free time around Thanksgiving, even when in grad school, and yet it's taken him until after Christmas??

I never claimed that I will beat an E55 that runs 12.0. If I smoke a car that consistently runs 12.0, you know that I have nitrous. I feel that I can run well enough into the twelves to hang with a CL55. I think I can prove this by running Benzo who claims to be about as fast as a CL55K. I am going to run any E55 that comes out just for the fun of it. I don't think losing to SGC makes me a liar, so I will definitely run him because neither of us have anything to lose. I think the run against Benzo is the one that is the most indicative to see if I am full of sh*t or not.

 

We can run from a roll if the radials are such a huge issue. I do not have street tires right now since my HRE's are getting re-clearcoated. I would rather run from a roll because this proves which car is faster, not who gets the better launch on better tires. By the way, if you find spray on my car, you can have it.

 

Personally, unless he is racing a CL55K which he claimed to beat, every other race is useless. Even if one car is 2 tenths of a sec slower or faster then a CL55, its pointless. If only we were able to get a CL55K out.

 

To be honest with you, I don't think you will beat most of the cars that show up.

I have been scanning the M5 board and don't think you will even touch my Auto C6 with Z51 axle. I run consistant 12.5's.

1/4 mile = 13.032 secs. at 104 mph

After mods (AA, CAI, SS Exhaust & Xpipe, PC Software, SSK, VPfuel)
1/4 mile = 12.788 ses. at 113 mph

Why is it that you think that Mercedes' own data, along with Motor Trend and Road & Track's test data, are all "wrong" when they show that the SL55 and CL55 are within one tenth of one second of the E55?

You keep making this baseless claim, yet refuse to back it up. Do you actually think anyone here is dumb enough to believe it? Clearly, this is nothing more than a weak face-saving maneuver, as is your silly claim that when (not if) SGC smokes you, it won't be the same as running with a CL55.

A CL55 weighs 180 pounds more. If SGC runs you with one passenger, this would be the same race.

If you have any sound reason why a CL55 would be any slower than an E55 with one passenger (and this ignores the FACT that Mercedes rates the CL55 at 493 horsepower, as compared to the 469 they rate the E55), please state it. Why?

And why do you keep dodging this question? Answer it.
