Costco has PS2's they just have to order them from the warehouse. They dont keep the tire on stock at hand. I got mine from Costco, heck I get all my tires from costco.

I tried these when I had my E500 and hated them. Used as a winter/cold tire instead of my so-3's. They made the car pull something awful and tirerack replaced them (after several thousand miles I might add ) with Yokohama db's.

Have Pilot Sport AS right now, and they're not bad at all. No pulling problems, nearly the dry traction of the standard PS. However, they are absolutely destroyed in the wet by the Goodyear F1's. I had them on my blown 430 Sport, had no issues with noise, and they solved the tramlining probelm the 430 had with the Conti Sports (pure junk). If you drive in the wet, I would recommend them. They rate very well at the rack and are inexpensive. For all out dry performance, PS or Pirelli P-Zero. I have to agree with blown V8 on the Conti's. Whatever you pick, it will make you wish you had changed them out sooner.

Thank you for all your recommendations. It sounds like PS'2 are the way to go. Anyone have any thoughts on Pirelli's.

MB Fanatic: How much are the PS'2 tires at Costco? How long did it take to get them special order?

329 per rear and 289 per front. much more expensive than tire rack.

Big O tires will match Tire Rack prices.

If you buy from Big O, you don't pay $25 per tire to install, and you get free rotation/alignment/issue resolution with the Big O store for the life of the tire.

I have to pay tax for the tires 8% on $1000 which is $80. But cheaper than $100 extra for installation.

Give them a call guys. Seems like a great deal to me.

Btw, unless you're going in the snow, PS2's are rated as great Summer and Wet tires. For me there is no snow here in the winter unless I seek it out, so this tire will be great for year round.

Anyone got any creative ways on how we can recoup our $$ for the Continentals? Or get tax credits/etc?

I paid around that but for me it was the most convenient thing to do. Plus I had a $60 off coupon. They filled the tires with Nitrogen versus regular air, lifetime balancing and rotation, plus I have the convenience of going to any Costco I choose.

just for my own sanity, is there anything special the installers need to do for the TPMS? just want to make sure it works after the tires are swapped and nothing gets damaged.

I'm very partial to my Hoosier R3S03's. Performance wise, they're the best but only on dry, smooth asphalt.

Oh yes, you have to recalibrate the TPMS to the new tires. Takes a few minutes and my Costco mechanic did it for me. Read the manual took the car out for a spin and made sure everything was ok. He did mention that he would inflate the tire to 60psi and take it for a quick spin and then set it to 35 all around again, to ensure that the tire is seated on the massive rims correctly. He really was a nice guy and surely knew what the heck he was doing.

I'm not one to **** money away, but I would have replaced them day 1 if I knew then what I know now..
Much thanks for sharing your thoughts, I just emailed Costco to see if they have the PS2s. They do have the old Pilots and also the S03s but it appears that the PS2s are the ones to get?

Yes, in exchange for the stock Contis. Everyone is right, the PS2s make a huge amount of difference.

Picked out my rims and tires yesterday. Decided to go with 19" Lorinser LM5's with PS2's. Found a neat place in Santa Monica, CEC Wheels. They sell all kinds of cool stuff for the Benz's lover. The owner has some of his cars in the showroom. The cars are insane. Anyone local should go check it out. FYI the manager said the PS2's are the way to go. Thanks for all the tips.

picked up the ps2's today. you guys weren't lying. now there is no lag at all between where i turn and where the nose of the car is going. i feel much more in control.

funny thing was the Big O Tires guy was saying "you're giving up your Continentals....but those are great tires"

The SO-3's are VERY good. I had a staggered set on 18" AMG wheels when I had my E500 and was very impressed. When I traded in the E500 I naturally put back on the stock wheels/tires and kept the SO-3's. So, now I have 2 sets of wheels and I will try the SO-3's when my PS2's are history. Like others, I removed the stock conti's almost immediately and the difference is substantial. Not sure if it's a fair comparison but the SO-3's on the E500 seemed very close to the PS2's in wet/dry traction, but the PS2's are clearly quieter and a little smoother of a ride.

Thumbs up Ps2

Finally picked up the E55 with the new PS2s. Went 275 in the back, the ride is so much smoother than the 6k miles Contis. Far better traction as well, very happy so far.

How does everybody feel about Pirelli P Zero Nero's. How do they rate against the PS2's? And what is the cost difference between the two?
