How my E55 transformed itself into an E500
Went to Sebring yesterday and on the way there, I was driving about 65 mph when I hammered it to pass a truck on a 2 lane road. My car jerked violently and I soon realized that the supercharger disengaged. This sensation had happened for the first time a few days earlier but I didn't appreciate what had happened. When I started running on the track, I couldn't get up to speed and the entire day was a wash since without the acceleration, the car is no fun. The remainder of the day was spent helping others work on their cars and as a passenger in a friend's Z06. When I'm done with a few mods, the Vette will prove to be a lot more fun.
For now the E55 is in the shop. I suspect it's the electromagnetic clutch on the kompressor pulley that spoiled the E55's retirement party.

Chill, do you think any of your mods are to blame for a clutch failure? How is the dealer going to handle that possibility? I seem to remember you are at least running a RENNtech pulley kit. Am I wrong?
Anyway, nothing sucks more than wasting a day when you thought that you were going to be having fun. I unfortunately have a lot of those days.
I hope it works out for you. Take care.

Supercharger failure
You see, there's this button you have to push on the console to enable "power mode." Oh wait, wrong car. Chill, did you still have a "chirp" after the SC failed?

More like an E320 than an E500... when I first got my C32 it had issues with the supercharger disengaging. GRRR... used to happen at the most inopportune moments too! It would come back but while it was out the car was a SLUG... on a par with the C240 or worse. The parasitic losses just KILL the car without the supercharger in play as it should be.

Got the car back yesterday. The part replaced was an electric pump that actuates the electromagnetic clutch. The E55 is back. The service dept forgot to give back my wheel lock key and when I noticed that it was missing, they couldn't find it. Fortunately they found it later today and delivered it to me. Even when a repair goes wll these a-holes find some way to f--- it up.

Hi ,
The failure u got on your Kompressor is not the clutch ..
I own a 2004 SL 55 and it happened to me twice , its the Kompressor pump that has to replaced.
When it happened i felt that i was driving a 50 hp car not a 500 hp
Nothing major , its a minor problem and happened also to 2 of my friends with SL 55's
Regards from Dubai.
Ahmed.
