Exactly ....

The E55 is great and fast but it can't turn very well. Lets stuff a larger motor up front and make it even more nose heavy than before. What do we want? A 1950's dragster? Should MB just put shinnies up front and big fat drag radials out back? With that motor stuffed in there you might as well.

Benzo... u have a Skyline so I bet you know about Supera's as well. Your car is awd so it responds well to huge power figures (unless you converted it to rear wheel drive only which is done ) but a Supera is not so lucky. After 600 hp the car gains little to no time in the 1/4 mile because the car can't put the power to the ground. A 900 HP Supera is fun but the 650 hp version is nearly as quick. I see an E Bi-Turbo V12 as the 900 hp Supera... great motor but rather pointless!

Only in one dimension. You can't compare a pig stuffed with a huge engine with cars that are designed to be true sports cars. I love massive HP as much as the next guy, but I'm done with MBs until they shift their focus a bit. May never happen, but fortunately there are plenty of other great cars out there.

I have a GT-R Vspec. My car makes 600 wheel hp and still puts it down although sometimes all 4 tires are lit. I have raced Supras with a 300hp advantage and they still loose because the GT-R puts the power down much more effciently. Especially off the line. In the GT-R, you just sit floored bouncing off the limiter at 8000rpm and when the tree goes green, you dump the clutch. As soon as you dump, the rear wheels will just light but just for a couple revolutions before torque is transferred to the front wheels and the car pulls itself out. On a GT-R Vspec, with the Attesa-Pro system, the torque starts being sent to the front wheels within 1/1000th of a second. The standard GT-R has the regular Attesa-ETS(Electronic Torque Split) which starts transfering torque to the front wheels with 1/100th of a second. I have gotten sub 1.6 60 foot times in this manner on street tires. The GT-R is all about the launch. You can make so much on the launch and immediately through 1st and 2nd that your opponent rarely catches up by the 1320 foot mark, even if they have a significant power advantage.

I worked at MotoRex, Inc for 11/2 years as a Sales Rep for GT-R's. If anyone has any questions about them, feel free to ask and I will try to help as best I can. I have also had a 10 year obsession with the GT-R and I know more about them than most.

Power to the Ground?:
Put a 19 x 10 Rim on the rear w/295/30/19 tires
or better yet
19 x 11 Rim(SLR) with 315/25/19 tires
Then you'll have better traction!
Note:All exotics with great #'s all have 315's or wider on the rear
Next: put a 3.06 LSD Rear End on the E55(Even Better traction Yet!)
Then: go with the TT V-12 (The 40-125 MPH would be rediculous!)

"Poof" - All of a sudden you'll be turning mid-11's @ 125

I'm Game-Anyone with me???

Funny we are even talking about this. I have a running joke going with a friend of mine that if this keeps going...in 5 years, the new AMG's will come with butterfly steering wheel, Lenco tranny and you'll have to squirt alcohol into the intake to start er up.

"Let's go kids, we're running late, who the heck was supposed to pack the chute on the Benz....I ask you kids to do ONE thing for me.."

Okay....went out a snagged the MT...here is the snippet verbatim

"....The CLS55 AMG will be the last new Mercedes with the amazingly successful 5.4 liter supercharged V-8. For the next S Class, AMG is preparing a twin-turbo version of the all new 32-vavle V-8. This clever base engine is modular, it first application being the new 268 horsepower, 24 Valve V-6 in the SLK 320. The V-8 will get direct fuel injection, and it’s the engine to which AMG will apply it’s twin turbo muscle. Result? “Over 400kW” says a Benz insider. That’s 536 Horsepower. Meanwhile, the 612 horsepower 737 pound feet twin turbo V-12 has a few more years left as provider of Merc’s ultimate muscle. That torque output isn’t an engineering limit, really (though transmission development is the under lying hurdle)-in Europe, that torque figure equates to a nice round 1000 Newton-meters. ......"

All kidding aside...looks like a twin-turb V-8 is comin in the 65. What do you pro modders think about that. Easier to tune/tweak/mod than blower version.?? Also is turbo lag a thing of the past..or is that the next full section of the forum in 06.

I dont see turbo lag as being a problem on this proposed motor. Its got enough low end grunt and wont have any trouble getting them to spool up. Just look at the V12 Biturbo, everytime its tested, the magazines stress how un-turbo-like it performs. They mention time and time again that there is no lag and you can barely hear the turbos functioning. I cant imagine they would make a V8 Biturbo that acts any different.

VelocitE55 - Are you Japanese?

I am actually good friends with Sean Morris who also worked at Motorex and started his own shop, RB Motoring. I was trying to get an R34 to legalize for about 6 months before the most recent "crack down" on Motorex for OBDII/etc... it was a shame. I am thinking about getting an R32 V-Spec to send over to my parent's house in Spain to have when I visit there. No legalization process is necessary there

Marcus, I have been good friends with Sean Morris for years. Ever since we were co-workers at MotoRex. RB Motoring is a great shop, they have some great stuff in stock, items that are rarely found stateside.

I am not Japanese, just a white boy with good taste! I am selling my R33 GT-R thats already modded and legalized, interested? Sean knows all about my car.

You will like the R32. The R32 is the most preffered GT-R by the really Die Hard GT-R people, mostly because its got a 200lb weight advantage. The R32's are great fun to drive, not quite as large as the newer R33's and R34's. They are easier to throw around. If you do get one, be careful with the HICAS System, the early hydraulic types like what the R32 has are twitchy and take some getting used to. Many people dislike it so a lot of companies offer HICAS locks that you might want to look into. The electronic versions on the R33 and R34 are more seamless in their execution. Good luck.
